Discussion for article #240073
Does Roger Goodell still have a job? The NFL is becoming almost as big a joke as the IOC.
I’m so relieved that Brady’s balls are back in action.
Wow, that picture. I think the court sketch artist wasn’t so far off the mark after all.
The surprise ruling by U.S. District Judge Richard Berman
There was nothing surprising about this ruling. His questioning during the initial hearing made it it seem perfectly clear that the NFL didn’t have a leg to stand on.
The judge maligned the NFL (we are told), but no mention of what was said? Did he perhaps use sign language, preventing you from transcribing what happened? Is the judge a part-time mime and therefore maligned the NFL from inside an invisible box? I understand how that would make him hard to hear and understand.
So, WTF happened?
More proof that the National Religion of the USA is football.
Guess the old saying is wrong. Cheaters DO prosper.
First, I strongly dislike the patriots. But I am not sure what the judge ruled to get here. The bad thing, as stupid as this case is, is that the last few players that challenged the NFL have won. Basically making the CBA meaningless. The players got what they wanted except when they do not, then they challenge it and get that too.
I thought it was stupid when they gave one guy the power to decide punishments and do the reviews. And maybe a court should figure that is wrong, but at the same time the players agreed to it. The Union in this case always goes for more money since playing careers are short. But this whole thing was odd.
BWAHAHAHAHA!!! SUCK IT, HATERS!!!
/turns off fanboy engines
Neener, neener!
Yeah, the underlying case was actually very weak, but even a Pats fan like me recognized that there was a chance Brady could end up suspended for destroying that phone, which was just an insanely stupid thing for him to have done. That’s the kind of thing that if a client does it, you consider it a bit of a nightmare.
After a lifetime of being a fan of football and the NFL, I am done with this game…I am done with the NFL…I blame the NFL, for their failure to keep the corruption out…CTE’s and the lies about them, the corrupt doctors, and trainers…the coaches who KNEW about the CTE’s…All leading to this point in time…this Brady debacle has shown us the truth of the NFL…Tax them…
You’re lucky he wasn’t wearing all his Superbowl rings.
You are 180 degrees wrong about the CBA. That negotiated agreement between workers and management means everything; and management cannot just punish whoever it wants for no reason.
“So, WTF happened?”
You’ll have to go to Huff Post or ESPN or 20 other sites to get the details.
This was an unbelievable decision. Basically the judge declared all arbitration null and invalid.
Yes he still does indeed have a job - at 30 mill a yr.
Wife just laughed and said, “See! I told you. This is no surprise because Tom is too handsome to cheat and I never had a doubt that his balls were perfect! So there!”
Well…As usual, I was left speechless!
He ruled the League had not fully informed Brady of the consequences he faced, had denied his attorneys access to a key witness, and had also denied them access to recorded testimony. You kind of have to go to a “sports” website to get all of this, which includes the full written decision. AP was just knocking out the story quickly for public consumption.
