Discussion: Thousands Expected To Demand Gun Control At March For Our Lives Rally

… organizers are hoping to draw 500,000 protesters; that would match last year’s women’s march and make this one of the largest Washington protests since the Vietnam era.

The NRA has begun referring to it as a target-rich environment.

Home Deport has reported a run on pitchforks and tiki torches.

Hope the marches swell to bigly yuge numbers.

We’re having a local march here in San Diego, and I suspect there will be a lot of other local marches.

My daughter works for a biotech outfit here and their CEO sent out a memo encouraging everybody to attend.

As much as every Republican in Congress will want to ignore every aspect of these protests, its going to go down in history as a turning point over guns in our society, because the next generation of kids, who are also the next generation of voters, are pissed and mobilized.

This won’t go away this time no matter how hard the NRA and the pukes in Congress try to wish this away…

It’s a Youth Movement and I know what youth movements can do - they can take over the entire country; they can take over the entire culture. We did. I love this so much I could plotz! We’re going back to the future for real - right back to the 60s.

The family and I got into DC last night from Chicago. Both our kids are in high school. They just want to go to class and not die. I’ll post a couple of pictures tomorrow.

I wanted to but I have a work thing tomorrow morning! But there’s a local march at noon a few blocks away. I want those kids to know we’re with them. It’s the absolute least we can do.

Mrs. Hoagie and I are hosting 4 kiddos from out-of-state. We are 40 minutes from downtown DC but we will shuttle them back and forth to Metro. My daughter is also hosting 4 of these brave young souls at her home in Bethesda. We are honored and awed by their commitment. Pizzas are waiting for their return from an organizing meeting. I am very emotional right now.

I’m in OC and there’s a march tomorrow afternoon in Santa Ana. I have two other prior commitments, so am probably not going to make it, but I’ll be with everyone in spirit.

Thank you and Ms. Hoagie and your daughter for your kindness to these young people.

Yes, all that. I am truly starved for that.

Join the club. But you’re doing a lot. When we look at the photos and videos tomorrow and get choked up because the country we always loved is alive and well and ready to kick ass, we’ll know your family helped put those feet on the pavement. Thanks.

It has been a while since we have had teens around (our kids are all in their 30s and only one has a baby–an infant). So, with these kids I am 1) exasperated by their talking style which is weirdly casual and oblique, and 2) so impressed by their media savvy and commitment to what they believe in. It’s a good experience for us. We are learning a lot. I hope they are too.

That gave me goosebumps. Thank you hoagies all so much for being such good people. Makes me know we’re going to get through this - for those young people, if not for us.
