A month ago Mother Jones reported, in response to the urging of a nonpartisan commission that the state legislature pass a resolution officially apologizing for a massacre in the state by white supremacists that left 25 black residents dead and sparked a week of rioting, Tillis moved to block the measure.
Instead, Tillis wanted to pass an amendment that praised the white Republican legislators that criticized the violence.
Okay now THIS stance makes absolutely no sense. No apology but he wanted to praise the white legislatures that condemned the violence. Hmmm.
Violence is wrong. But wanting to apologize for the deaths that were a result of the massacre needs needs to be blocked.
Ummmkay. Something is very fishy with this character.

This is how authentic, home grown North Carolina Republicans talked before the new sheriff arrived in Rock Ridge and the Kochtopus Empire absorbed them, folks. Charming, isn’t it? But it was only the rhetoric that was mean-spirited. Whenever they got their hands on a house of the General Assembly, they acted like local politicians, not mindless, servile minions of the National Association for the Normalization of Bircherism. That’s what McCrory and Pope brought us.

Let’s face it, despite the fact that he’s not sporting a shaved head and Nazi inspired tattoos, Tillis is as much a White Supremacist as any Klan member. For that matter, most Republicans in the South (and some in the North) are. They’re desperate to prevent anyone of a different skin color from achieving social parity- and what’s worse, they’re desperate to keep the poor white Crackers in their place too. Only the poor white Crackers are too stupid and uneducated to get that too.

I think you’re going to have to explain that a little better. I think calling Strauss a “reporter” is far too generous, but I was referring to our boy Tillis, not Strauss.
Because everybody knows only blacks receive medicare, medicaid, social security and welfare.

Rich racist John Birchers look the other way in the seating arrangements of the 1% while rich ignorant moneylovers hold their nose, all to make money and retain power. You are right it has never been a purely Southern coalition.
It’s going to take a long time to undo the amount of damage to the state that McCrory and Pope have wrought.
I can only hope that North Carolinians have learned a painful lesson about letting conservatives run their lovely state.
Every relative I have there—including some who work for the government in Raleigh—is appalled and ashamed of what NC has become under Republican rule.
