Reagan was supposed to be in the group, but unfortunately he couldn’t remember how to get to the TV Room.
Just a bit off the mark because Trump’s racism lines up pretty squarely with Teddy Roosevelt’s.
Finally had to pry it from his cold, dead hands.
Yep, two Republicans, two Democrats, and one independent, but all liberal/progressive. And three of the five are on Mt. Rushmore.
The permanent White House staff can always tell when a Republican is in office. All the “back” buttons on the TV remotes are broken. (!!!1111!!111!)
And how would they react to Reagan. Or George W. Bush. In fact, how is Trump any different than Reagan other than Trump isn’t senile. This cover is about 35 years too late.
And he suggested the cover himself. After all, the NY wouldn’t be the great rag it is without Trump who thought of everything first.
Warren G. Harding would be embarrassed by Rump.
Kennedy going for the antacids cracked me up, too!
“The New Yorker Cover Shows Former Presidents Shaking Their Heads Over Trump” another New Yorker.
Here’s the thing though. They’re watching. That’s all that matters.
Stubby can’t get no respect.
At least they didn’t depict Lincoln holding a gun to his (own) head. So that’s a plus (for tRump).
Is there a sidebar, ‘1st Ladies Trump Wouldn’t Kick Outa Bed’?
Top 3, Francis Cleveland, Grace Coolidge and, controversially, Ellen Wilson…
Nah, that was just Guv Christie landing in New Hampshire that you felt.
The New Yorker is very great rag, and I never let my subscription lapse
“I beg you be persuaded that no one would be more zealous than myself
to establish effectual barriers against the horrors of spiritual
tyranny, and every species of religious persecution.”
— George Washington
As I would not be a slave, so I would not be a master.
This expresses my idea of democracy. Whatever differs from this,
to the extent of the difference, is no democracy." — Abraham Lincoln
“Here is your country. Cherish these natural wonders, cherish the natural
resources, cherish the history and romance as a sacred heritage, for
your children and your children’s children. Do not let selfish men or
greedy interests skin your country of its beauty, its riches or its
romance.” ― Theodore Roosevelt
“The liberty of a democracy is not safe if the people tolerated the
growth of private power to a point where it becomes stronger than
the democratic state itself." ― Franklin D. Roosevelt
“Every gun that is made, every warship launched, every rocket fired
signifies in the final sense, a theft from those who hunger and are
not fed, those who are cold and are not clothed.” ― Dwight D. Eisenhower
“If we cannot end now our differences, at least we can help make the
world safe for diversity. For, in the final analysis, our most basic
common link is that we all inhabit this small planet. We all breathe
the same air. We all cherish our children’s future. And we are all mortal."
— John F. Kennedy
“I could stand in the middle of 5th Avenue and shoot somebody
and I wouldn’t lose any voters, OK? It’s, like, incredible.” — Donald J. Trump
The GOP sacred cows would and will support Trump. They just won’t admit it.
If you’re referring to Lincoln and TR, everything that’s historically known about them would strongly suggest they’d think Trump was an ignorant fucking asshole who had no business being anywhere close to the Oval Office.
No, Old Abe and TR would never support an insufferable boor like Trump. But to be honest, I’m not sure they’d support Hillary, either. Especially TR, since she’s joined so closely at the hip to Wall Street.
Excellent New Yorker cover.
It’s not just Trump, however.
All the GOP “candidates” agree essentially with Trump, in substance.
