“Don’t testify. It’s either that or an orange jumpsuit,” Dowd reportedly told Trump.

Dear G-d, please oh please oh please let him testify…

The biggest tell is not the Trump is crazy and an idiot, that ought to be clear to everyone. What is most interesting to me is the reporting this am that Trump is mad that Woodward did not interview him. Trump continues to think he is so smart and can fix it all, and believes that had he just been able to talk to the legendary Woodward he would have convinced him about what a stable genius he is.

His staff knows better and blocked an interview, Trump is now fuming.

Along with Trump’s craziness and stupidity and impulsiveness is a huge dose of narcissism, which will ultimately be his undoing.

I’ll add a link to the very revealing phone call with Woodward about Trump wanting to be interviewed, but his staff keeping it from him. https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2018/09/04/transcript-phone-call-between-president-trump-journalist-bob-woodward/?utm_term=.f39e0e7201f2 entire process of trying to shield Trump from his own crazy is very clear.

I want to see the deer-in-the-headlights looks as every republican legislator is asked what they know about these incidents and whether they still support the white house.

As Rick Wilson put it, the real news is that the Cabinet effectively decided to invoke the 25th Amendment and just decided not to tell us.

Yanking official documents so that the President of the United States didn’t see them, can’t act on them, won’t sign them. Holy shit, the unitary executive is literally dead.

I have now encountered the “Bad Gateway to The Infernal Den” many times this morning. Nothing can shock me now.

Combine Woodward’s book with Tom Friedman’s columns for a picture of a scary future. I hope we survive.

If I had a dog, I would name him “gateway.” Then the training would go like this “Bad. Bad Gateway!”

People asked me to give it a chance, but it was very bad! I put that Gross Gateway down, like a dog! Sick (or wrong)!

I’ll skip the book, go for the summaries (I get too much of the Orange Gasbag daily).

Here’s one that was a Jeebus! moment:

According to Woodward, [economic advisor Gary] Cohn “stole a letter off Trump’s desk” that the president was intending to sign to formally withdraw the United States from a trade agreement with South Korea. Cohn later told an associate that he removed the letter to protect national security and that Trump did not notice that it was missing.

Will we have any allies after Trump?

Or eat them, digesting the cellulose with his amazing gut full of symbiotic Trichonympha wood digesting, protozoan microsymbionts. His aides have to keep him away from the White House furniture, lest some valuable antiques are added to his formidable bulk.

I sometimes wonder if Trump is so obviously unstable and defective that our allies will see him as sui generis, so aberrant and strange that he cannot possibly represent the future direction and intentions of the United States of America. That his strange, oddly ineffective administration is simply something to be weathered and endured.

Perhaps if it were Mittens saying one tenth of these idiotic, maladaptive, wretched things, it might actually be more damaging to our future status abroad.

Perhaps because United States is led by a toddler, it is merely in time-out.

“Trump also reportedly asked for plans of a preemptive military strike on North Korea only one month into his presidency.”

Utter madness.

This tiny-fingered lunatic with the launch codes is an existential threat to all life on earth.

And every single Republican who enables this insanity is a card-carrying member of the suicide cult.

The Executive branch is dysfunctional, which is abnormal and not good.

I find myself rooting for the Deep State, which is again abnormal and bad (though not as bad as letting a toddler’s destructive impulses stand as policy).

Searching for an analogy to this situation, I can only suggest MAS*H, but not the unit run by Colonel Potter, who knew what was going on, but by Colonel Blake, who didn’t realize that everything was actually controlled by Radar O’Reilly (“what the Colonel doesn’t see he won’t sign”). Only this remake isn’t funny in the least.
