Discussion: The Four Biggest 2016 GOP Dodges On Gay Marriage

Discussion for article #235833

Of course they dodge it. To win their nomination they have to get the support of bigots.

Why would anyone in the LGBT community vote for a Republican? Do they hate themselves that much?

Does anyone else get the visceral reaction to want to punch that cherub-looking fuckface Ted Cruz every time they see that picture?

Yes. They’re called “Log Cabin Republicans”

well, yez. but I’d settle for stomping on his clown feet.

Not that there’s anything wrong with that.

Tsk, tsk, tsk! The stupid is very strong in the GOP, weapons grade and bullet proof in fact. Still, each cloying Republican pol knows that venom, hate, bigotry, ignorance and pandering to the lowest common denominator of human decency is the only path through their bagger-filled and dominated primary cesspool on the road to the GOP nomination for president. At present it won’t…it can’t stop for them. They dug the hole they find themselves in and they just continue to dig.

It’s quite a sadomasochistic internal struggle the Republicans are having, and their tortured “50 Shades of Gay” responses dealing with this issue reflects it___and BTW, it’s an issue a still growing majority of Americans have already accepted and moved on: “Part of me wants it to stop…but so much of me loves the pain!”

Personally, my shadenfreude cup runneth over!

My hunch is the GOP candidates are hoping the Supreme Court rules that the Constitution forbids states from banning same sex marriage. That would be a gift that allows every anti-gay GOP candidate to decline to answer any question on the subject by saying, in effect, “The court has ruled. It’s not an issue.”

Second best for the GOP pack of know-nothing bigots would be for the court to keep the issue alive by ruling it’s up to the states. Different press question, similar answer – “it’s not a federal issue.”

Worst outcome for the Cruz of Crazies? Any result that sends the case back to a lower court to reconsider this-or-that; or an outright 5-4 majority against same sex marriage.

LGBTs are smarter than those who consistently vote AGAINST their self-interest, to wit: blue-collars & middle class voters. How can they support candidates who are all for soaking the middle class to benefit the wealthy, closing down state responsibilities for roads-bridges-education so the Indiana state govt can crow about not raising taxes & ‘protecting the taxpayer’ while giving vent to the pettiness of the governor over RFRA, the state school superintendent, and a host of other state responsibilities? My guess is that what flows from the Rethugs in Indiana is what flows from other state govts, too!

Nah, the crazies would claim God intervened on their behalf, acting through SCOTUS, thus affirming liberals/gays/Democrats as judged by The Creator to be Satanic heretics worthy of banishment from participation in government.

“God has seen to it this nation be returned to its Christian roots!!! Let this serve as notice to all defying God’s will, you were wrong!!!”
Above bellow to be added to every GOP stump speech.

Depravity augmented by FOX and Talk Radio.

I have often pondered at what form this depravity would have taken without these two inflaming-agents.

Here is a literary depiction from Ian Fleming of the population segment from which the baggers come.

"Now they reminded Bond of the Dr. Pavlov's dogs, saliva drooling at the treacherous bell that
brought no dinner, and he shuddered at the empty eyes, and the flaccid skin and the half open
         mouths and the thoughtless minds"

Fleming was talking about elderly slot-machine players in Las Vegas in the 1950s…a group eerily similar to
the marks being played by the present group of ReTHUGs.

maybe he’s a closet homosexual

Indiana: Northern Kentucky disguised beneath a pointy hood.

Don’t judge a book by its cover, unless it has Ted Cruz’s face on it. His inner awfulness is manifesting physically, like a much more evil form of thyroid cancer.

So is it the “Top 5 Dodges” or the “Four Biggest Dodges”? Anyone home on the TPM edit desk?

I've always been for this-- That is ....... Before I was against it --

Isn’t that special? THEY get to attend a gay wedding (or in Walker’s case, the reception) out of love, but gay people should not be allowed to marry for love. Maybe they could just say, ‘I can’t attend your wedding; I’m running for President, for Pete’s sake.’ God bothering, hypocritical assholes.
