Will Melania finally amend her citizenship application to get her permanent work visa?

The whole purpose of this is to undercount area with lots of immigrants (lawful and otherwise), and so to reduce Democratic representation.

“The Census Will Ask A Question It Already Knows Spooks Immigrant Communities”

What a ridiculous headline. “Immigrants” are not threatened by this question, a traditional component of the census for more than 120 years. Rather, this will alarm illegals.

Oh, geez, the census will alarm criminals. What a horror!!

You sure about that? Are you an immigrant?

Also- this question hasn’t been asked since around 1950.

It was asked from 1820 - 1950. That makes it a traditional part of the census.

Immigrants are those who have entered legally. Of course they are happy to answer this question.

Illegals are criminals who have snuck in illegally. Of course the question makes them uncomfortable. When I sneak in and cheat, and someone asks me what I am doing, my conscience makes me uncomfortable. We want the illegals criminals to be uncomfortable. They are, after all, criminals.

My question is, why is this senile old fool (Wilbur Ross) making decisions that are threatening to rip apart the social and fiscal fabric of our country? Of course, we could also ask the same question about his boss.

Ah, the joy(?) of rhetorical questions.

What would happen if all of us who believe this question is wrong just didn’t answer it? Would they just throw out our forms? Or would they get the message?

Well 1820, I guess that make Wilbur Ross a traditional part of the census.

Clever idea. Chuck those forms. However, you may want to ask your mayor if she wants you to chuck the forms. You may find that he is very uncomfortable, since local monies come from census form counts. But I’m sure you didn’t know that.

It’s really not constitutional for the government to do this. I wonder who will take it to court?

Leaked excerpt from draft 2020 Census questionnaire:

Please select the option that best describes your religion:

  • I am a good Christian.
  • I am some other form of sick, depraved heathen who will burn in hell for all eternity.

Please select the option that best describes your race:

  • I am a normal, White American.
  • I am one of “those” people.

Please select the option that best describes your nationality:

  • My ancestors invaded America long ago, and stole it from the natives fair and square.
  • I am an immigrant who sits around collecting unemployment and steals your job.

Seems legit.

  1. Studies show it also impacts documented immigrants.
  2. The point of the census is to get a accurate count of people living in the country regardless if they are documented or not, it does not do the country good to have that data be corrupted.

But these are Trumpian times that make many non-white males nervous about the government comin’ round and asking questions. Of course, this is the desired effect.

CA is taking it to court.

Also, the intent of the census, since the 1700s, was to get a head count of ALL people, citizens and undocumented. It has been a monumental effort to get some communities to respond even before the white nationalist DOTUS took office.

They technically aren’t ‘illegals’ until they are discovered. The word you’re using in a colloquial (read: racist) manner is ‘illegal immigrant’. So your previous comment that they aren’t ‘immigrants’ is just flat-out two-scoops style wrong. Up to the point of them being discovered, they are ‘undocumented immigrants’ because we had no documentation of their presence. If you use the right words, you won’t sound so {insert disparaging adjective here}.

The purpose of the census is to determine how many people live in America. The purpose of the census is NOT to determine how many people live in America legally. Hence Trump and his administration are intentionally for political reasons violating the very reason why America does a census.
