Discussion: The Bernie-Hillary Feud Is Bleeding Into 2020

Darcy, I have no idea why you’re trying to establish the narrative that you are working hard to create, “Haha! Just look at those ignorant, obsessed hillbots whose heads are exploding!!!,” but it’s just not going to work. You’re talking to a group of political junkies on this forum and we all know better.

  1. None of us were surprised that Sanders is running again. Most of us predicted it. Nobody’s head is exploding. Nobody is being driven CRRAZY because he’s running. We all knew he would. Many of us don’t like him, which also doesn’t come as a big surprise, but our minds remain firmly un-blown.

  2. I don’t think any of us were surprised at Sanders’ ability to raise a large sum of money. He’s got one of the largest donor databases in politics today and, if I recall correctly, he outraised all the other candidates, Republican and Democratic alike, in the 2016 primaries. Look at the thread here from two weeks ago when Bernie’s haul was announced. Were there really any “exploding heads?” Or anyone expressing any real shock? Or even surprise? Of course he was able to bring in a big haul. Duh.

  3. Nobody here is surprised that he and Biden are at the top of the polls. At this point in the primary season, mostly it’s just us political junkies paying attention, so any given poll is mostly about name recognition or about whose name happens to be in the news that week. Of course Sanders is in the top two or three. That’s another big “duh.”

I’ve made no secret of the fact that I dislike Sanders and think he’s woefully unqualified to be President. But, alas for you, my head is not exploding, I’m not fixated on, or even discussing, Clinton, and I’m not at all surprised (yet) about anything taking place in the race for the Democratic nomination.

I think Sanders is unlikely to be the Democratic nominee and I’ve explained why. I’m also quite willing to acknowledge that I have little data to draw on and that I could easily be wrong. I was certainly wrong about Trump in 2016. We’ll know more in the next six to twelve months, once the data do start to come in.

Will I vote for Sanders in the primary? Nope. Will my head explode if Sanders takes the nomination? Nope. Will I vote for him in the election should he win the primary? Damn right I will.

Edited to add: here’s the link to the 318 comments about Bernie’s haul. I haven’t re-read the whole thread but the comments at the beginning are certainly not expressing any CRRAZINESS, surprise, or sign of exploding heads. There are, of course, a lot of intemperate remarks but that is entirely expected on any Bernie thread: Discussion: Bernie Sanders Hauls In $6M From 225K Donors In First Day As Candidate
