Discussion for article #239318
They should be summarily fired and charged with the highest degree of sexual assaultâŚall of them. Period. End of story. This is precisely the kind of rape of peoplesâ dignity that white cops have used throughout this countryâs history to belittle, scare and âpacifyâ communities of minorities.
The message is clear: âYou are not safe. The people who are here to protect you are here to subjugate you and you therefore have nowhere to turn. You will either learn your place or leave, but if you stay, you better fucking be meek and obey and accept your second-class citizen status or you will be punished. âDisciplineâ can and will happen at any time, any place and for any or no reason.â
In that manner, this was not just a horrifying crime against this womanâs body and mind, it was a deliberate message being sent to her entire community. As far as they were concerned, she was nothing but a convenient billboard.
A âcomplaintâ? Hope she has some sort of legal recourse to this, but Iâm not optimistic.
Edited for clarity.
If they found weed it was the weed they planted when they didnât find any on her.
These cops should be fired and blacklisted. Unfortunately, thereâs no blacklist for bad cops.
How many violations of the Constitution here?
Recently Iâve seen a harmless looking, stoned out of his gourd white dude that took a selfie with his arresting officer. Itâs kind of funny.
I donât want the white stoner to be violated or the cop that arrested him to be shamed for not being an asshole. I want the this also very harmless looking woman to be treated fairly. Even IF she broke the law.
Texas, of course.
Well thank goodness they saved us all from the devastation that the .02 ounces of marijuana would have caused in the community, that definitely justifies the whole forcible sexual assault under color of authority in a public parking lot thingy.
So the police basically raped.a woman in public over an alleged .02 ounces of marijuana. Is that even enough for a joint?
When I read stories like this, one thing that will slightly quell the resultant outrage and anger I feel toward the police is to watch a clip of 50 cops being tasered. It takes the edge off just a bit.
An ounce is 28 grams, so 1/50th of an ounce would be a very tiny amountâŚabout a half of a gram or a small bud. You could get a small joint out of it probably, maybe two spliffs, probably just one bowl though. haha
Conversely, here in Oregon you can have a whole ounce in your pocket and the cop has to hand it back to you by law. In Texas, you get manually raped for a single nugget. Thatâs severely fucked-up.
Eff Texas.
Well, a couple of days late to this one, but better late than never.
Out on the Internets generally, the racist authoritarian apologists are insisting that she consented, so that ends it. Their evidence of her consent is the fact that the cops said so in their reports. Case closed. And none of them seem the slightest bit concerned that cops were conducting body cavity searches outdoors on suspects who hadnât been arrested and without a warrant or probable cause. Because, hey, she consented, so thereâs nothing at all odd or abnormal or in any way noteworthy here except that yet another of Those People is going to sue the police for no good reason.
For what these cops did to this woman, they have earned far worse than our âjusticeâ system can possibly deliver. But losing their jobs, facing serious criminal charges and a huge lawsuit would be a start. And youâre right â the damage this kind of thing does to the community is a whole other level on top of that.
Sweet baby jeebusâ! What in the world is going on in this land? Too many of those who are charged to âserve and protectâ have gone fu*king batshitcrazeeeeeâ! It appears in many districts there is little or NO training required. Some make the character Barney Fife look like Elliot Ness.

Seriously, in Grassachusetts, they still confiscate if itâs up to an ounce, but then they give you a ticket for $100 that youâll probably never have to pay because you can refuse to give him your license or identify yourself haha. More than an ounce and youâre in trouble though. Now that theyâre setting up the shops, I have several friends who are all about scheming up ways to get their weed license lol.
Apparently this is nothing new for Texas police officers:
These things have been going on for decades â yes, decades.
Weâre just hearing more of them as people speak out, the perpetrators get video taped, witnesses speak out. .
I give this no better than 50-50 that these cops face any reckoning.
No one would vote for a society where the police can use an odor, an odor that is related to common terpenes and not the actuall active ingredient, to perform a dehumanizing search to reveal the existence of a small amount. Thatâs insane, and no rational human would consider it a good use of resources, even if you think that the small amount of pot they found represents a moral failing worthy of the stateâs attention.
So this humongous waste of resources is about one thing, and one thing only: demonstrating power. The fact that it is white cops demonstrating sexual power over a black woman makes all the more sickening. All officers involved in this should be fired and brought up on charges of sexual assault and false imprisonment. Any items found from such an obviously unlawful and indecent search should be tossed out.
Yep, before I read your post I said I give this no better than 50-50 that these cops face any discipline.
