States may not secede.
The issue was dealt with firmly in 1861-65.
SCOTUS ruled in 1869 that states do not have the right to secede.
So stop playing their game, and instead deal with the facts.

As much as Iād like to see Texas go - permanently - Iād be just as happy to see them removed from the process of selecting and approving school text books.
This is clearly a state which denies science and which bends historical facts to fit their own imaginary ātruthā. How they ever became the center of the school text book universe is beyond me.
And if they even hold a vote to seceded, treat them like the US did Cuba - 55 years of economic sanctions, travel bans and plenty of global shaming. If they threaten violence against the US, well, nothing should be off the tableā¦

I spent a few years in the late 90s and early aughts working in San Antonio. I was there during the 9/11 tragedy and the reaction of some of the Texas natives was beyond belief. I remember how several of them remarked (in all seriousness) how horrible it would have been if the terrorists had crashed a plane into the Alamo. I had to tell them that no one outside Texas gives a shit about the Alamo and it would have been far better if the terrorists had targeted the āshrineā instead of the places (and all the lives lost) they did hit.

I was born in Texas and still live here, although these shameful, willfully ignorant incidents make me doubt my decision to stay.
Thereās a mistaken belief by some rural state reps that the Texas Constitution contains a clause, allowing them to secede. First, there is no clause existing in that document. Second, the Supreme Court outlawed secession in1869.

Perhaps we could try a provisional secession: the federal government agrees to not provide any FEMA support for the next 10 years. If, at the end of that time, the federal government observes a net financial benefit, then we let them secede.
