Discussion: Tenn. GOP Rep. Resigns Leadership Post Over Texts To Female Colleages

This is the perfect time for Durham to channel St. Ronald. He could say the following:

“Let’s start with the part that is the most controversial. A few months ago I told the Tennessean people I did not text my female colleagues. My heart and my best intentions still tell me that’s true, but the facts and the evidence tell me it is not.”

However, it is clear that the relentless media-driven agenda against me will continue no matter the position I hold. This targeted media campaign continues to distract our Caucus and the Legislature from focusing on the serious work that must be done over the next few months.

Ladies and gentlemen, I give you the Party of Personal Responsibility.

“but did not make it to a discussion about the text messages because a vote to suspend the rules failed”

Wow. We won’t discuss it IF the “rules” are in place. ???

Durham—for good or ill—is a run-of-the-mill Tennessee right-wing Republican asshat.

We have more than our fair share of 'em, too—think Scott Desjarlais, Marsha Blackburn, Lamar Alexander et al.

I grow weary of having Tennessee held up to national ridicule by all these half-wit, lack-wit, nit-wit, dim-wit right-wing dipshits.

Three women, at least two of whom were in their 20s, said that the 32-year-old married lawmaker had sent them text messages

Not defending the behavior, but what’s with the suggestion that contact between a 32-year-old and someone in her 20s is somehow scandalous in and of itself? That might be as little as a three-year gap. Even if it’s a bit more, so what?

I believe the remark was about the “married” part.

He’s obviously trying to get as busy as he can before he’s totally bald.

The Rightie scolds like good GOP Christian Family Values Conservative Durham are about an hour and a half past fu*king tiresome. They are so often the lowest of the low and being lectured by one of these hypocrites on ‘family values’ during election cycles is akin to being chastised for loitering by a crack whore…or having Josh Duggar talk about protecting children. Damn them all to blazes!

Enough!

Isn’t that descriptive enough?

Since 2000, 6 out of 23 were D. Thats almost 75% R hypocrisy. Maybe they might STFU about Billery. Yeah, thought not….

“However, it is clear that the relentless media-driven agenda against me will continue no matter the position I hold…”

Y’know, as a Christian, “I F**ked up” would be something that earns empathy.

But why do these Republicans never seem to realize that it’s themselves that are the problem?

“The relentless media driven agenda against me!” WTF, the media forced him to send those inappropriate texts to his female colleagues? Sadly his constituents will probably buy the crap of an accuse and NOT hold him accountable/

Blaming the media is SOP, the base loves that shit.

Because they never are.

Duh.

M-A-R-R-I-E-D. Isn’t that descriptive enough?

Yep. So why mention the women’s ages, as if that were part of the scandal?

Probably because it does matter-- if he was texting a couple of 80-year-old ladies if they got home safe, that would be a much different connotation.
