Discussion: Ted Cruz Holds Second Amendment Rally Days After Deadly Shooting

ANY 2nd Amendment rally would be held coincident with deadly shootings. Gun deaths will likely overtake car-related deaths this year. We’re at nearly 100 per day.

Ted Cruz is a sick and twisted bastard, lacking any shred of empathy.

(Lays head on desk)

According to a report in Politico, the event was previously scheduled, but not canceled because Cruz spokesman Catherine Frazier told Politico “even in the midst of horrific events like this, we should never rush to take away the basic liberties enshrined in our Constitution that are guaranteed to law-abiding American citizens.”

“Rush to take away”? Shit, we should double-down and use this tragedy to drive gun loons into a frenzy!!! And don’t forget to send us your $$$! You’re welcome!

Just days after shooters in San Bernardino opened fire and killed 14 people, Ted Cruz will introduce his National 2nd Amendment Coalition at Crossroads Shooting Sports in Johnston, Iowa Friday…

…and afterwards, he plans a trip to San Bernardino, California, where he plans to hold a rally to mock the dead from this week’s shootings.

…including the U.S. Capitol, NRA headquarters, and most, if not all, state legislature buildings.

“Glorify God” and “CrossRoads Shooting Sports” don’t belong in the same sentence. And a .22 doesn’t belong in the hands of child.

I am getting so frustrated with these asshat Republicans that I can empathize with Bruce Banner when he says to Wanda Maximoff, “I could choke the life out of you without changing a shade.” He was not really going to do it, but I understand his anger. These people are destroying the United States of America that I have spent the better part of my life defending.

part of its mission is to “glorify God in all we do and to be a positive influence to all who come in contact with CrossRoads Shooting Sports LLC.”

Seems pretty similar to some other organizations mission also.

Sorry Ted, you are not glorifying God but you are glorifying yourself while you spit in the face of Jesus. You are not even pro-life.

Why not? He daily mocks the living with his suffocating presence.

A mass shooting is defined by a shooting of four or more people and there is one in this country every day. That’s American exceptionalism. P.S.I remember the day when Whitman killed 14 people in Austin and it was shocking and horrifying. Who would’ve imagined we’d see similar events every day.

Don’t be too sure. You got to take into account how the media works anymore. If Cruz wins the primary, he will automatically enter the general as a REASONABLE alternative to the Democratic offering. It’s the whole false equivalency thing. It doesn’t matter how radical he really is, they will act as if he’s perfectly reasonable.

Of all the candidates (and they are all just awful and scary), Cruz terrifies me the most.

Unlike Josh Marshall and Cruz’s classmates, I don’t think Cruz is anywhere even CLOSE to being brilliant, but he’s certainly smarter than the rest of the GOP field, and probably lightyears ahead of the average GOP voter.

There are 11 more months of this to come. That is assuming there are no more exploitable events like Paris, Colorado, San Bernadino.

That will wreck a good many nervous systems, as good people just may sink down and say to themselves, “It’s hopeless. The loonies won”. I believe in the power of visual metaphors. To arrive at the metaphor of the idea of good people sinking down in despair at the dominance of Crazy, I harken to the Robert DeNiro film “The Fan”…

Gil Gerard (DeNiro) is a loud, crass, brash, immature, combative lout in charge of showing his son a baseball game. Gerard is in the stands behaving with brutish obnoxiousness. While he is doing this, an older woman (wearing a Stanford baseball cap) looks on from a seat nearby with the sort of expression that I know that so much of the country would have in encountering 2015 Republicans:

A disapproval tinged with pity, revulsion and loathing.

Fortunately, for the modern Republican Party, no matter how loutish, crass, brash, immature, combative and brutish the Republican Party IS and WILL BE, for the foreseeable future, 60% of the electorate (which cannot find the time to vote) is entirely unconcerned.

Also Colorado has some of the loosest gun laws which cuts against their argument.

@Austin_Dave

The buffer zone around SCOTUS is bigger than it is around an abortion clinic, 252 ft. to 25 ft. You think those people want to get shot by some crazy?

Someone might say they remind them of what they’re lacking, but it won’t be me.

That ought to be illegal.

That’s a classic.
