Discussion for article #236338
Knowing what he knows now, would he still post the original tweet?
Pfft. Jamestown settlers? Eurotrash.
See - that elusive college degree could have saved you!
It’s hard to believe that it has been 505 years since the first settlers arrived at Jamestown. - TW
Yes! Yes, it is.
because the more I’ve talked to folks - I’ve talked to Senator Sessions
'nuff said on Walker’s philosophy on immigration. Jeff Sessions brings this image to mind every time:
Note … I loved Henry Gibson.
Even in their Tweets they are racist, and Anglo-centric.
“Spanish exploration of Florida began in 1513 with expeditions near present day St. Augustine, the Florida Keys and Tampa. French settlement of Florida began in 1562 as Huguenots, French Protestants, established themselves on the St. Johns River not far from the Spanish settlement at St. Augustine.”
Not to mention the Vikings settlements in Nova Scotia around 1000 CE.
Wisconsin likes 'em stupid.
I see the failure in math, but they got the date of the Jamestown settlement correct, so I do not see the failure in History.

Maybe the point of Walker’s Jamestown tweet was that undocumented immigration didn’t work out too well for the people who were already here 408 years ago.
Hey, at least he didn’t trot out the usual crapola that the Pilgrims at the Plymouth Colony were the first settlers, which the teabillies often do (skipping right over the fact the Jamestown colony preceded the Pilgrims voyage on the Mayflower by some 3 decades).
Very much in tune with his party: the GOP base is pro-immigration in the sense that they generally don’t fear white immigrants who came from England 400 years ago.
I’m surprised Team Walker didn’t double-down on the “505 years” comment and insist it was the year 2112.
Although Passage to Bangkok would explain the error, if you know what I mean.
Rush fans?
It's hard to believe that it has been 505 years since the first settlers arrived at Jamestown
Just how fine tuned is his gut instinct of how long 505 years is? “Yeah, it only seems like 329 years…”
And lets not forget the Roanoke Colony (aka The Lost Colony) established near Manteo, NC between 1584 and 1587.
Senator Sessions is Walker’s go to man on immigration?
That would still be an Anglo-centric settlement…or attempt at one. Khaaannn’s point was that other Europeans were colonizing American before the English.
Of course, Jamestown is important as it was the first permanent English colony in the New World, but that is still Anglo-centric.
