Geez, I’m kinda glad that’s just a head shot. I think he may be joking about the gym, but maybe he could at least try the Subway diet. Morbid obesity is a good example why health care is so expensive. And this is how you know he is a republican; no personal responsibility, no concept of why everyone needs healthcare, doesn’t give a rat’s ass until tragedy affects him, and really slow to figure out that repubs just exist to screw you over.
BTW, the 1980’s called; they want their wallpaper back.
How is this yahoo making an income if he quit at 50? The ACA doesn’t pay folk to quit working. it just makes insurance more affordable. This character is scamming somewhere I think. And that crack about the ACA being unConstitutional?? This guy is not seeing reason.
For me to retire required a pension (after 47 years of working) together with Social Security. Medicare makes health care affordable for me. This fellow is not explaining his whole picture.
I understand that it takes money to have media impact on elections - and I am not one who thinks “both parties are the same” nor I am throwing in the towel. However, many of us donated and worked our tails off for Democratic candidates in the 2014 election. The national party organization did a poor job of messaging - and their strategy of “We’re not that thrilled with Obama either” left us with devastating consequences in many states for years to come. We have a right to expect better for our money and time.
We absolutely want him on our team. And I would add that we should welcome him with open arms and without hesitation. Like Victor Lazslo to Rick, “and welcome back to the fight.”
Does anyone else think this is bogus? I understand there are people who are forced to work for the health care insurance who could otherwise retire – whether because of savings, an IRA, a pension, a spouse who works, social security, independent income of some sort, or whatever. But this guy carefully doesn’t mention how he’ll support himself. He just says, thanks to Obamacare, he’s been able to retire at 50 and now spends his days at the gym (or floating around in a pool, apparently nursing an umbrella drink). Obamacare is health care insurance – a truly wonderful thing – not a free ride for 50 year olds who don’t feel like working anymore.
I really think this is a rightwing spot intend to persuade people (or confirm their suspicions) that Obamacare is just a free ride for would-be layabouts.
Yeah maybe he’s trolling. But it’s ineffective because the logic is too sound. I’m middle class, I need it too. ACA happened because it was necessary. All of this crybabying is just partisan politics. A gigantic meaningless never ending shit fit by the people who brought you absolutely no benefit in recent memory, if ever. That’s why it seems like it’s not trolling, he does point out that the GOP is useless.
Government is only bad because Obama is black. Period. Someday, like maybe 2050 we’ll have another GOP president, and 50 years of “government is evil” bullshit will suddenly disappear.
I got a totally different vibe. I think it’s BS. Obamacare is medical insurance, not a free ride for would-be layabouts who have no obvious source of income. Sure we can speculate how he’s going to support himself in his early exit from the work force. Heck, maybe he’s a trust fund baby. But IMO, the obvious message – not to the left but to the right – is that Obamacare is for lazy libs looking for the next handout. This year’s Obamaphone.
Webb surely MUST be the poor bastard on the left in this picture. He and his ‘culture wars’ dupes and sheeple sort ONLY take notice that they are the unwitting thralls and drones who keep their overlords in office when some issue, such as the ACA issue with this TeaPottyPat, can’t be ignored any longer and hits them in their deluded faces.
And BTW, his “sincerity” is questionable. He reminds me of Rush Limpballz’, years ago, when he said he was going to vote for Bill Clinton …It was just to ‘rile’ up his rube and hick white trash Con and GOPig listeners and get them excited on the issues.
One must always be careful not to buy into the right wing myths. Why is it so hard to fathom retiring at 50? What is so magic about 67? Oh yeah that is the number that was set by Saint Ronnie. I’ve been working since I was 14. I own my own business now and work about 20 to 25 hours a week, semi retired I suppose. I can imagine someone who saved enough and maybe even worked long enough at a job to take early retirement (at a reduced benefit) at 50. A friend became disabled at 50 after two decades of a back breaking job that did just that. He took his pension early at 55. It smacks of right wing propaganda to assume that this guy is “mooching” just because he retired at 50. I have another friend who retired from a large computer company at 52, and he is well off now. I’m not saying that people who are doubting this guy retiring at 50 are right wingers, just that the right wing propaganda is strong and we have to be careful not to let it into our hearts.
If we mock a potential new ally, we only become weaker. Under a big tent, there will always be people very different than each other. The 1% is the enemy anyone who is opening their eyes to this fact is a friend, regardless.
So, pretending for the minute that the memory of a blood-drenched school full of tiny bodies torn in half by assault rifle bullets, and the teachers who died trying vainly to shelter them from those bullets, and uncounted family and friends who will never be able to put at presents under a Christmas tree without crying again, are of no weight here, the answer is still no, fuck no, nope no all the nopes.
Because we’ve run that experiment again and again. And we’ve learned that there is no amount of prostration and servile licking of Wayne LaPierre’s sociopathic ass that is sufficient to prevent the NRA from demonizing a Democrat and no amount of gun worshipping that will convince a single issue gun nut voter that the Democrat is gun-nuttier than the Republican.
So republicans haven’t did anything to help him but democrats have and he’s a tea party republican? See now talk about literacy test before voting this guy I’m in favor of him taking one, this is the problem with stupid people they’re to stupid to realize they are stupid. Good God!!!
Yeah, but you know what? He’s no longer a single issue voter. The ACA has made health care a big deal and a huge win for the Democratic Party. Within 10 years the Republicans are going to remember that it was a Heritage Foundation plan and swear up and down it was their idea to push this through. My congresswoman was a pro-gun Democrat and voted against regulating them. Of course, then she was shot in the head…
We want everyone on the team who realizes that they’re voting against there own best interests by voting republican. It makes absolutely no difference who the dems or repubs nominate; it’s only about what each party stands for. Dems help people, repubs help themselves.
