The âso-calledâ Supreme Court at it again!
Yes, yes, yes! Now sane Tar Heels have to get their asses out and vote!
Good news for the Federal Judge in Texas who struck down district maps for the same reason.
Better news for voters whose votes are being diluted.
BusteddddddddddddddâŚ
Wish my state NE woukd challenge our districts. Clearly drawn up for Republicans but race likely not an issue.
Was it unanimous?
Details of the vote, please!!
5 to 3, Kagan writing for the majority.
Slowly but surely, the horrible issue of gerrymandering is creeping its way into the national psyche, If BHO keeps his promise and focuses his post-presidency activities to include even more awareness, we may be able to start to return to a fair and equitable franchise starting with the 2020 census.
Didnât they redraw the 2nd District after Obama carried it in 2008? Race is clearly not an issue when you could put all of the non-white population into the same district and they still couldnât carry the vote.
@jcs We had an island of blue around UNL but still couldnât dislodge Jeff âCarpetbaggerâ Fortenberry. Now you have to contend with the $$ from the âDaddy bought me a governorshipâ Ricketts clan. I thought Heineman was a disaster but have heard from friends who are still there that things have gotten even worse. Good luck.

Here ya go!
Amazingly, Clarence freaking Thomas joined the majority.
Thank youâŚ
Thomas, Breyer, Ginsburg and The Wise Latina joined Kagan fully in concurrence.
Alito partially concurred and partially dissented, joined by Roberts and Kennedy.
They did redraw after Obama. Their Republican congressman at the time was having a harder time with each election. Took out democrats and put in more suburban repubs. He lost anyway, but they got it back in '16. We do not have a large Black population although they are primarily in dist. 2.
A map shows the clear gerrymandering with 02 being the only district with a chance of getting a democrat. Hillary carried it. We are having some local democratic leadership problems. Recently lost Omaha moyor race.
Really? Will wonders never cease? I had the impression that he was never comfortable in his own skin.
Itâs perfectly clear that the only way Republicans can win elections is by cheating and stealing. Most of the money they get from their Rich donors go to finding ways of stealing elections by changing of laws and voting districts.
The Repubs have no choice but to mush ahead with voter suppression and surely have many plans lined up and ready to go.
They canât win a fair fight and they know it, so why try.
Democracy is based on fairness. The losers in Democracy canât use fairness to fight fairness because again, theyâd lose.
If Iâm seeing this right, Gorsuch was all for the Gerrymandering.
