Discussion: STUNNER: Ammon And Ryan Bundy Acquitted In Oregon Standoff Trial

Call me crazy but the entire world quite literally watched these crimes being committed on live television, and the aftermath of the acts and the destruction wrought are thoroughly documented. If these types of evidence aren’t good enough to convict these people then I don’t know what on earth could possibly be sufficient to convince the jury. Of course, I forget sometimes that we live in a world in which Eric Garner was murdered on video without any repercussions, so maybe I’m too idealistic. But holy crap people, this verdict is mind-blowing. I guarantee, as others have stated, that if this was a group of black men doing nothing more than being a group of black men they would likely have been gunned down at the first hint that they might be “up to something,” to say nothing of taking over a federal property. But a bunch of white men in cowboy hats literally invade, occupy, and destroy the place and they are acquitted. Simply astonishing, and given the current state of the world managing to astonish me anymore is becoming increasingly difficult.

If you don’t understand this verdict, you don’t understand America.

Where are all the “fiscal conservatives” that don’t like tax payer money wasted?

Surely they are all outraged.

This is what white privilege looks like. If me and three of my boys took over a fucking PortaPotty, our black asses would get life. These assholes pointed guns at federal agents, took over and occupied a federal facility for forty fucking one days, caused millions of dollars in damage, and then took a stroll. I sometimes hate this country.

I sure hope that the Feds have something else in their quiver because this is yet another example of our justice system gone off the rail. This will give those radical anti-government white terrorists more reason to pull more stunts like this. I thought that the Feds did a great job in keeping the confrontation down and possible much greater deaths and harm out of this conflict and then we have a jury letting these law breaking terrorist idiots free on these charges. Where in the hell has this nations moral compass fpr right and wrong gone? “Justice for all” my rear end. We are continuing to make a mockery of our justice system. Add this decision to all of the not guilty charges against the racial killings of blacks by police and this shows how out of whack our justice system has become.

In 2016 armed insurrection, thoroughly documented, is OK with a jury in one of the the more liberal cities in the US. This makes no sense.

OK BLM…the next time you need to protest…take along a few guns, occupy a post office …it’s civil disobedience and that’s just fine, apparently

I wonder though if the followers took the plea deal and got jail time, while the leaders (organized or not) walk free, could this hurt the Bundy’s recruitment of more followers? I would think it emboldens the Bundys but the followers getting the shaft might make someone think about joining in their next project. As in the Bundys are working for the government to identify those who think the government shouldn’t own lands.
Did I just create a conspiracy theory?

Not really. What it does is show that “they should have trusted us” instead of cutting and running like cowardly Democrats.

““not guilty” Thursday in federal court of conspiracy to impede officers and other charges”

I will patiently, ah-hum, wait for breakdown of this verdict, but it was obvious to all Americans that the Bundy standoff “impeded officers”, trespassed, and threatened violence to said officers.

wanderer, I am so with you on your comment here. You are absolutely right, we see this play out right in front of our eyes and yet we cannot get a conviction? Does the whole damned world believe that the government is so bad and so wrong all of the time as professed for years from the right wingers that this enters into this kind of decision? I do not have a good answer on this other than it must be our education system going down hill as to make everybody stupid as you say. Yes, this is scary and these of the alt-right and deplorables that Trump has empowered. I am with you. What the hell is going on here?

I personally have my doubts regarding this group’s ability to “conspire”. They probably smelt a fart, turned left, found themselves at the site and stumbled in. I simply can’t see how they are not guilty of anything tho…

Regardless, I’d rather not have a group of right wing martyrs bitching and moaning that they are political prisoners during an already kooky election cycle.

But can’t we monitor these nutcases?

What. The. Actual. Fuck. This verdict is not only outrageous, it sets a dangerous precedent. These assholes filmed themselves breaking the law. What the hell is up, Oregon?

There’s no sugar-coating it – these jurors are fucking morons. And any judge who didn’t admonish this verdict as the product of fucking morons is a fucking moron, too. This is anti-government nullification, period. None of these jurors deserves the protection the government affords them. Every one of them should have their homes taken over by armed goons, and then watch them cry about it.

This is the era of the Tea Party and Trump – anti-government idiocy infiltrating every aspect of decent society. A great big fuck you to these asshole jurors.

This case was tried in Portland. The Portland area population is more than 2 million. Not rural.

I guess if you’re white you can just grab your guns and literally terrorize and take over federal properties at your heart’s content!

White privilege never spoke louder! Imagine if “The New Black Panthers” (both of them!) had pulled such a stunt! They’d be in the ground by now.

The firearms charge only applies in the course of another crime, since they were not find guilty of another crime, that charge could not stand

Lots of back-and-forth in these pages back in the day about whether the Feds were idiots or supergeniuses for letting the thing run on endlessly. Looks like that’s settled.
