I am assuming that the government has filed a rule 50 motion (JNOV)… Has the judge ruled on it yet?
I’m sure they’ll appreciate the federal government’s generosity in treating them so well, and will certainly not see it as a sign of weakness that encourages them to do more of the same.
After all, they were allowed to walk after their previous standoff and they totally just went on to quietly live their lives.
Who were?
It certainly emboldens the sovereign citizen movement. I won’t be surprised to see sovereign territories pop up if Hillary wins. Just need to call tthe patriots to arms to join the independent republic of Trumpistan
How did Ammo get to Malheur? Was there some daring prison break I’m not aware of?
As an Oregonian, I am disgusted. Disgusted. This is wrong and conflicts with reality on every level. Not a conspiracy? They are from Nevada! How are we supposed to feel safe in our own god damned homes?
Clintons gave us Waco. Bring it on Pepe bitches. See how far HRC lets you push it.
I don’t know what you’re talking about. Sorry.
The country pretty much laughed at these dumbasses at the time, and I don’t know if their legal troubles are over or not.
I have no idea if others are willing to take up where they left off. From here, it looks like they tried their little stunt and achieved absolutely nothing except a lot of bad press.
Me too. What’s stopping armed men from occupying my house?
The jury just enabled more uneducated thieves to do what the want. People will die now because of this wild west decision.
The prosecutor needs to be fired
You clearly don’t know what you’re talking about.
You think people laughed at those dumbasses at the time? Maybe at the mastubatory press conferences, not at the guys aiming their assault rifles at the federal agents. Generally that would be considered a bad idea - certainly a way straight to a cell or a body bag. But they were allowed to walk, and a lot of people, myself included, said that it set a bad precedent.
Ammon Bundy was there. Walked away without consequence.
Then they went to Malheur (you know what that is, right?). And they did more of the same, and were treated with kid gloves. And allowed to play “siege” (except for the beer runs to town, and dildo deliveries of course). But that was okay, because you don’t want to rile up the rednecks. But it was okay, because letting them do whatever they wanted for weeks, destroy what they wanted, and threaten who they wanted, well, a world of hurt was going to come down on them.
And, honestly, if you think that
you truly have absolutely zero idea the kind of people this involves. They went and occupied and tore up federal property. They defied the gummint, threatened to kill their workers and agents, and generally gave them the finger. They held out for over a month, and now they get to walk away.
If you think they and theirs see that as a “loss” you have absolutely no idea what is going on.
Nothing. Better buy a gun. Now you can see why all this is win-win for the NRA.
From slate.com
" In the end, however, federal prosecutors were not able to show that the
Bundys were explicitly “conspiring to impede federal workers from their
jobs,” which is the foundation of the conspiracy charge."
…
Guns and idiocy wasn’t really enough to keep sane folk from their job? What did the government hire on as “lawyers” to try this case? Clearly the government “lawyers” were utterly incompetent.
Note to Feds: Next time take the place back from the fuckers.
OJ was acquitted too.
Sue them in civil court for the damage.
“Basically, we decided that the actual problem is that GOVERNMENT UNION WORKERS were too lazy to show up for work during that month and a half. The presence of a bunch of armed assholes was completely coincidental.”
Twenty six people were charged in the Malheur Wildlife Refuge standoff.
Nearly a dozen, however, took plea deals. Ammon and Ryan Bundy were part
of the first trial. Another trial for seven more individuals is
scheduled for February, according to BuzzFeed.
…
I hope the government has the good sense to get competent trial lawyers for this trial.
Don’t worry, having an incompetent prosecutor for this trial is all part of the MASTER PLAN TO DEFINITELY GET THEM NEXT TIME PROBABLY ALMOST CERTAINLY.
I apologize. I didn’t realize it was in Portland proper. So I give the defense even more credit in jury selection.
I would assume that if two dozen heavily armed men spouting anti-government hoo haa showed up at a work place that the workers there would shortly leave out of concern for their bodily well being. I would think that by itself would constitute impeding people from doing their jobs. That these two dozen men were of like mind should in theory to a reasonable person constitute a conspiracy as far as tactics and strategy are concerned. As i said I think the governments lawyers weren’t lawyers at all. maybe they were bus drivers or janitors but they clearly were not competent trial lawyers. I am no lawyer but I can see guilt here, In spades.
I agree with what you posted @meri.
I bet they feel dumb
