Bravo! Stephen is a great man along with being a very funny man. Other well-paid media/celebrity types might want to take note in these times of shifting winds…

I love that quote from Gandhi about liking Christ, but Christians not so much, 'cos they’re not much like Christ. But then someone like Colbert comes along to blow a hole in my cynicism. Damn him.

Well, this just proves that public schools don’t need government funding, because the private sector will always come through.

Indeed – a lovely gesture and a great example for the philanthropic-minded, but it’s a damn shame that we have to rely on charity in the richest nation on earth just to get our kids educated. Our future looks grim.

Like bake sales to fund elementary public schools.

An exceptionally selfless and beneficial act by a man so hated by Billo and 'Hannity is going to call for an exceptionally vile attack.

Yeah, what Colbert did is laudable, but it should shame Nikki Haley et. al. that it was even necessary.

The South Carolina legislature will pass a law demanding 10% of the funds be spent disputing climate change and instructing students which species of dinosaur Jesus rode to home school every day.

P.S. That is NOT said in jest. Mark my word, politicians in South Carolina will figure out a way to ruin this gesture.

More awesome than the universe

Beyond awesome. One wishes that the S.C. GOP might be shamed by this, but we all know they won’t be.

Donorschoose.org is a terrific way to help a teacher in the trenches. Go browse their site and find one that speaks to you. I’ve contributed to several this past year. One was for one of my grandson’s teachers and another was a teacher from the town where I went to elementary school. You don’t need to fill the whole request, but can give $10 or $50 toward a specific project.

It should shame everyone - people used to consider funding schools and education as a necessity and as a matter of civic pride.

I wonder if Cosmo Kramer was the buyer?
