Is this really a problem?
"The immediate goal is to make sure there are more people on private insurance plans. I mean, people have access to health care in America," he said. "After all, you just go to an emergency room."

Seems the right wingers who cloak themselves in their so-called Christian wraps forgot this part of their Biblical instructions: “The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’"
Thus, by running up the cost of failing to fund CHIP, Congress has made it comparatively much cheaper to renew the program.
LOL. Not exactly 5-dimensional chess by the GOP Congress, but I think it qualifies as 4-dimensional nose picking at least.
So much for “What about the children?”
Ya gotta love compassionate conservatism…
Ironically, my staunchly republican, emergency room physician, brother-in-law, always used to bitch and moan about the poor people cluttering up his emergency room.
I walk my dog in a cemetary quite often, one of the largest cemetaries in the nation. I read the headstones while he chases deer and squirrels. I’m always struck by the large number of people going back into the early 1800s that died before age ten. Each one seems a tragedy. Yet the GOP views it as the good old days.
Could someone refresh my memory about which political organization is the “Party of Life”?
" Suffer the little children to come unto me …
for such is the Kingdom of Heaven " –
Soo … it’s just about interpretation –
In a hastily-thrown-together funding package passed just before Christmas, Congress agreed to fund the Children’s Health Insurance Program for six months, backdated to September when they allowed the program covering roughly 9 million children and pregnant women to expire. That nearly $3 billion emergency stopgap was supposed to carry CHIP until the end of March, but states are reporting that they could run out of money in just a few weeks.
Liberal Jesus: “The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’
Republican Jesus: “The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, tell those shiftless kids to get a job. Takers.’
Again, they are already born. They no longer count. This is the current “compassionate conservatism” platform of the GOP.
They need higher taxes.
Let’s not forget, many of these parents that get CHIP for their child or children make too much money to qualify for Medicaid but not enough to be able to afford full private insurance coverage for their families. And a lot of them are tRump supporters too. Still, the vast majority of Republicans really couldn’t give a shit as far as I can tell. To them, its just one more bargaining CHIP to be used against Democratic legislators in Congress for stupid shit no one wants. Playing politics is all they know how to do. These fuckers have never learned how to legislate for the common welfare of people in this country. They’ve become transparently cruel and heartless over time because power over others and enriching themselves has become the ideological basis for all they’re capable of conceiving in their legislative roles. They’re a disgusting lot. I need to quit for now. Reading and reacting to these fuckers just drains me and truthfully, I got shit to do.
The Republican Party has no shame. They have gifted billionaires with a huge tax break, repealed the mandate and now are leaving innocent children without health care. Heartless bastards, each and every single one of them.
And we need make sure that everybody in America knows that.
That they let the CHIP program expire and then did not immediately renew it with a clean bill and funding that didn’t take from another healthcare program, tells you just about all you need to know about these Republican pukes. That they will hold kids’ lives hostage for their other ‘priorities’ is about as disgusting as it gets.
Don’t forget those dust bunnies under the sofa. They’ll irritate your lungs if you’re not careful.
Let them.
Then start putting pictures of the dead children on every billboard with the caption ‘Murdered by the Republican Party’.
Nothing will change until there’s pain involved.
And especially “Family Values” – if something doesn’t benefit the Trump, Koch, or Adelson families, it has no value and should not be pursued.
Having worked in the medical field in many capacities over the last 30 years, I can tell you your brother-in-law is far from unique. I was working on quality issues with a trauma surgeon once (an excellent surgeon, BTW) and I went to his office which was filled with books by Ann Coulter and Bill O’Reilly, etc. A medical degree confers nothing on you besides a medical degree. That being said, I know many physicians and nurses who spend countless hours doing free work here and overseas.
As for the issue at hand
FUCK INSURANCE. HEALTHCARE FOR EVERYONE.
As has been noted many times, poor children do not have many lobbyists in DC.
