That’s one hell of a thumb…

By the end of all this he won’t be able to remember what he said and how many amendments he made. Fits right in with his master, lies all the time.

"Amoral leaders have a way of revealing the character of those around them. Sometimes what they reveal is inspiring. For example, James Mattis, the former secretary of defense, resigned over principle, a concept so alien to Mr. Trump that it took days for the president to realize what had happened, before he could start lying about the man.

But more often, proximity to an amoral leader reveals something depressing. I think that’s at least part of what we’ve seen with Bill Barr and Rod Rosenstein. Accomplished people lacking inner strength can’t resist the compromises necessary to survive Mr. Trump and that adds up to something they will never recover from. It takes character like Mr. Mattis’s to avoid the damage, because Mr. Trump eats your soul in small bites."

I haven’t got time to watch yet, but has Barr explained why he didn’t release Mueller’s own summary?

Everything Trump Touches Dies

Stated another way, “ETTTTS” . . . Everything Trump Touches Turns to Shit.

And Barr’s reputation has just landed in the toilet.

If that be true, then say adios to Los Estados Unidos.

This Barr obfuscation is expected, not surprising. Like Whitaker, having Barr and Rosenstein testify before Congress will get you little but more of the same BS. I suppose Congress could try for lying or contempt of Congress, but a Mueller testimony will be the only constructive fact-finding event.

Comey’s op-ed in the NYT on how “good” people like Barr and Rosenstein are compromised by Trump. He could have saved a lot of words by using Josh’s brilliant term: “Dignity Wraiths”

As Digby just wrote, Dems need to step up their game here. It’s theirs to lose. They’ve been handed a golden opportunity to take Trump and the GOP down, and if they don’t then it’ll be because they lacked the skills, courage or will to do it.

Frankly, I’m a but worried. I’m watching the hearings on a delay and right now Blumenthal is questioning Barr, and he’s putting me to sleep. He’s hesitant, stumbling, deferential, nervous and plodding. How he was a successful prosecutor is beyond me. Most of them are coming across this way.

Perhaps it’s all part of a deliberate slow ramping up of their attacks, but I’m not so sure. This is how Dems have been for decades, almost apologetic in holding GOP criminals accountable for their crimes. It’s like they all had their fight gene surgically removed, and they literally don’t know how to, or have been so tamed that they might as well not. It’s been this way for as long as I can remember, going back to the 70’s.

Eventually a handful of Dems are going to have to step up and take over this and do what needs to be done, and dispense with the Marquise of Queensbury nonsense.

Three Democrats voted to confirm Barr.

Doug Jones
Kyrsten Sinema
Joe Manchin.

They can go become Republicans.

Barr Denies Putting Thumb On Scale For Trump

He’s not lying. It was his foot, not his thumb that he put on that scale.

Saint Nancy and Schumer need to either up their game or step down. They are not adequately representing their constituents. Enough is enough.
