Discussion: Spin On Spin: Barr Denies Putting Thumb On Scale For Trump

another form of the non-denial denial

Barr was always a talentless sycophant. Comey’s definition of “good” may be synonymous with “Republican”.

It wasn’t just his thumb, it was his entire corpulent body

“Barr gave a press conference one hour before the report was released trumpeting “no collusion” and stating that Trump was simply “frustrated” in some of the instances in which he allegedly tried to thwart the investigation.”
I seem to recall Nixon being “frustrated” too, it’s not a get out of jail free card.

Above all else, Barr has humiliated himself. His rep is SHOT

Agree. Hence, the quotation marks…

I think that applies to Rosenstein (though I’d use Comey’s “weak” rather than “good”); but Barr has long been with the program. Remember, he was comfy in near-retirement but wrote an unsolicited 19-page love letter to Trump to get the gig. The guy actually said there was more justification to investigate fking Uranium One than the Russia issue. He’s one of them.

BTW, this piece (I assume pushed by Barr’s camp to ease suspicions about him) features my current favorite photo:

Whatever we call them, they’re not handling this anywhere near as well as they need to. Yet another, even worse performance by Mazie Hirono, who basically spent the entirely of her time making a series of accusations against Barr that, while accurate and merited, came across as adolescent in tone, that in no appreciable way advanced the cause of revealing Barr and Trump’s crimes and making impeachment more plausible. It was basically “You’re a bad man, Mr. Barr, VERY bad man, and I don’t like you!”. Ok, yeah, right, we know, we know, but there’s a way to do this and this ain’t it.

Dems frankly suck at this. Again, they either don’t know how, or are too terrified to do it properly for fear of their big donors and centrist swing voters. There doesn’t appear to be true leadership on this the way there was with the Clinton impeachment. It’s like everyone’s sitting around either waiting for someone else to take charge or hoping that it blows over and they can get back to focusing on passing bills that will never become law.

This needs to change REAL SOON, or they’ll not just squander a golden opportunity to fix this, but to prevent it from happening again. And if anything loses them the presidency and congress next year, it will be not overreach, but underreach, on this. WTF are they waiting for? Someone has to take charge, get together with the party’s finest legal and political minds, hire some PR people and legal experts and such, draw up a plan, and then send marching orders to the troops: take down this Trump!

Mueller’s really side-eyeing him there, isn’t he?

Barr works for Trump. Cute con.

So Mueller didn’t bring charges because the DOJ says he can’t. Being honorable, Mueller chose not to make any accusation about Trump who would be denied a venue in which to defend himself.

Kind of a big legal loophole, but Americans bend over backwards to be fair to everyone. Okay.

So, Barr then decides to step up and exonerate his boss, leaving the American people with no venue in which to have their questions answered. But Barr says that’s okay.

We can remain subjugated until the next election, when filthy rich Republican mega donors will pull out all the stops to indoctrinate the American people as to the legality of Republican obstruction.

Yeah. Fair and balanced. Just like their State-controlled cable network.

“proximity to an amoral leader reveals something depressing”
Maybe 10% of people will always do the right thing and maybe 10% of people will always take every opportunity to do evil but that leaves about 80% who will just go along with what those around are doing whether good or evil.

Correct, especially the same-o, same-o DIM Leadership, I am specifically think of Chuckie and Nancy. They have the skills but lack the will and courage. Time for the younger class to supplant.

I suggest you not trust anyone who tells you the sun will be rising in the West.

Trump has found his perfect AG: willing to lie, willing to contradict what he said 5 minutes ago and to say he never said what he said even if it’s on videotape, and uninformed about the law or simply willing to ignore it. And Barr is supposed the leading prosecutor in the land on behalf of the people. This isn’t putting the fox to guard the henhouse, it’s moving the fox and his family into the henhouse and inviting them to eat hardy.
