Discussion: Speaker Boehner: Iran Deal Is 'Unacceptable'

Discussion for article #238403

So…what else is new?

Looking at that pic, I’d say Mr. Speaker downed an especially dark Grand Marnier last night – the whole bottle. I’m not sure I would wear pink with that complexion (seriously).

To the topic at hand: I wouldn’t have expected anything else from the worst Speaker of the House in decades.

Unacceptable speaker Boner speaks to Fox without reading some details

The president can veto any resolution of disapproval. Congress needs a two-thirds majority in each house to override the veto, so to put the deal into force, Mr. Obama only needs one-third of one of the houses to stand with him

Why is the “growing Republican chorus” in opposition to the treaty the big news? Where is the coverage of the pro-treaty chorus?

Oh, Speaker Boehner, we all believe that you and your job as Speaker is unacceptable. After all, you’re pretty much throwing temper tantrums every few days because the US isn’t going to war with someone or we aren’t shoving borrowed dollars into the pockets of you and your cohorts. Simply put, Boehner, shut up.

So Boehner is for Iran having unfettered ability to potentially develop a nuclear weapon (aka no deal).

Got it.

Who cares what Boehner thinks about this?

The House has no role in treaties, particular already made ones (in this case the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty) which this deal is under.

Jeez, your party is in a hole and all you can do is dig deeper?

Republicans have 54 votes in the Senate guaranteed. And they will probably grab a fair number of Democrats too. Getting to 67 will be tough, but not impossible. And it may be easier to get two-thirds of the House.

Johnny Reb said what?

It looks like he and the leadership are using those especially large shovels I sent them for Christmas. This year, I’m thinking of sending them mid-sized back-hoes. That’ll help them do the job done even faster. I’m doing my part.

If you man the backhoe and look like this, I’m on board.

What finally dawned on me, and something that the GOP need to be told is that, by agreeing to this deal, the President has created something of a firewall on the eastern side of ISIL. With Iran involved in fighting ISIL, the US has less to worry about.

There is so much the GOP needs to be told but so little they’ll heed.

They’re like a 17 year old boy- they think they know everything when in fact they know nothing.

LOL. No, that’s my boyfriend! (Without the 'stache). I’m a shorty, aging cute boy (think the not-as-good looking Matt Damon’s little brother … a few people over the years have said that to me, but I don’t see it).

Of course. After all, these guys would make Major General Stanley look like a military genius. . .

For those who do not know the reference, it’s to the character of the Major General from Pirates of Penzance. In his song he says “I know more of tactics than a novice in a nunnery”…and I’m saying that these guys know even less than that.

This complete pig’s breakfast of a leader (along with McCarthy, Scalise and McMorris Rodgers) can’t even corral their own caucus to vote on an infrastructure bill - and have the “House Freedom Caucus” stifling their agenda on a semi-regular basis - who believes they could do any better with negotiating with a hostile, foreign country!

Yep never saw that coming…
