Shades of my youth. Tracking Mercury, Gemini and Apollo crafts on the school room map as the nuns called out the coordinates. It feels good to have a grand vision again.
Kind of puts trump and minions in perspective.
They seem to be getting very good at this.
That was waaaay cool. And the whoops and cheers just shows how starved and hungry this country is for some really good science and hardcore engineering genius that is appreciated by all. At least that was my thought as I watched it.
I must say those two boosters landing looked unreal.
Good thing Trump made this happen, eh?
I’m so expecting him to try to take credit today or tomorrow…
I’m such a sucker for this stuff and even get a little Verklempt watch the rocket roar into space, crowds cheering and remember watching Saturn V rockets roar into space as a kid with an overwhelming feeling of hopefulness I haven’t felt in a few years now.
Yes, like bad science fiction from my very early youth, or even before.
Does anyone know? Did the Center stage land properly? They ended before confirming that, so I’m thinking it failed.
Take the time to watch this. You’ll be remembering it for a long time. It’s nice to have something good to happen. https://youtu.be/wbSwFU6tY1c
Scroll ahead to 28 minutes if you want to miss the long countdown.
Now I’m counting down to Trump taking credit for this.
Here’s the animation showing what was supposed to happen. Helpful to watch before you see the real thing. Set to Bowie “Life on Mars”. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tk338VXcb24
Yes! The grand vision thing. “We do not choose to do these things because they are easy, but rather that they are hard.” (approximately)
I liked the two boosters synchronized descent and landing more than the liftoff. The whole thing just amazes me.
I needed something uplifting, and I just got it.
It’s a sign. There’s a future beyond Trump and things are turning. If it had blown up on the pad we wouldn’t have been surprised. Instead it executed almost flawlessly.
False presumption. Everybody knows that rockets fly because of thoughts and prayers, not any of that “Science” or “Engineering” devilry!
Gawbless.
Orlando Sentinel, 20 minutes ago …
“The fate of the third is unknown after an attempt to land it on a barge at sea.”

Doesn’t sound like it.
I saw on Twitter that it destroyed the barge it was landing on. If true at least it hit the target.
Yikes! Talk about looking on the “bright side”.
