How the hell is this news?

Sotomayor reportedly said she’ll read Clinton book. “You better!” Clinton responded. “I loved yours.”

Awesome! What a cool meeting. (I bet there was a ton of security there that day)

Okay misogynists and Hillary Derangement Syndrome ragers, here is your big opportunity to spew hate for Hillary Clinton and a liberal SCOTUS all at the same time!

Go ahead, brave conservatives, lets see how well you can bash and malign two of the most accomplished and powerful women in the world.

I’m not going to spew hate for HRC or for Justice Sotomayor, I admire both of them. But I will spew this sentiment. Why is this news except for being a slow Saturday. This is TPM, not TMZ.

This does highlight what could happen to the Supreme Court if a GOP president gets another pick. We would have a legal return to child labor, the abolition of the minimum wage, and the destruction of Social Security.

Just for starters.

Tires, don’t forget the tires, and if we bump into each other we can talk about pantyhose.

The Cantor megillah has pretty much assured that Rs are out of the running for winning the presidency which is what even the few moderates over there are saying. The base wants far right, the country doesn’t

Look: it’s an incident that passes (the political equivalent of) the Bechdel test. Sure, it’s very minor and random, but it’s progress.

It is news in that when would you see a R doing this?
It is news in that a former Sec of State and a Supreme Court Justice are at Costco.
It is news because news in this country is more about celebrity than facts or items that actually impact your life…
Really? That’s your problem?
Wow

Actually, I was thinking of filling up my gas tank while there and maybe getting a car wash (do they even have car washes?)…If not, perhaps I’ll pick up some hors d’oeuvres from the frozen section so we can have something to nosh before we grill. I hear they have a pretty good deal on those little miniature spinach pies.

Where will the conspiracy theorist go with this one? I like it, a Wise Latina and a sharp pol shopping at the opposite store than the mad men.

Okay, I do see you point, but I still think it’s TPM-relevent. Not for a the great news significance of a casual interaction, but because of the two particular subjects of the story. I know others will share that “meh” sentiment, which I see as also valid, but I enjoyed seeing story here.

I can imagine exactly what conservatives are thinking:

“Why haven’t Republican legislatures outlawed, uh… whatever it was they were doing? Doesn’t Sonia know Hillary has to pay her a “speaking fee” to keep their obvious conspiratorial planning session legal? You can’t just “run into each other”. In Costco? That place that pays their employees? Yeah, right. How coincidental. And it just happened to be in the book department. Books. Liberal things. They just [air quotes] like to read. Clearly, we now know the truth. Obama arranged this to distract from… uh, from… uh, wait… uh, from his failure to take our guns away from us.”

Better Costco than Sam’s Club.

Apparently you think it’s newsworthy, because here you are, commenting on it!

Can anyone imagine a skunk like Scalia doing his own shopping…at Costco, no less. BTW, remember David Souter? He turned out to be one of the good guys, even though he was appointed by Bush Sr. (the relatively good Bush). Who did we lose him for?
