After it passes, citizens will inevitably get their knickers in a justifiable twist with this thing as it turns into a disaster of death and bankruptcies for so many people while the rich order more caviar cakes and iced champagne double-cream shakes. The GOP architects of this thing will inevitably blame the Governors for failing to do the right thing with implementation and then wash their hands of it because their view of conservatism canāt fail; it can only be failed. Of course, Kasich, et alia, should cry wolf, but they did clearly vote for these awful legislators so what are they going to do about their āconcernsā?
All Republicans with ādeep concernsā form a lineā¦
Strip people of healthcare?
Republican 1 Yes.
Good. Out of the door. Line on the left. One vote each. Next. Strip people of healthcare?
Republican 2: Yes.
Good. Out of the door. Line on the left. One vote each. Next. Strip people of healthcare?
Republican 3: Ah, no. Concerned and troubled
Hmm?
What?
Republican 3: I'm concerned and troubled. They said I could fool people into thinking I was reasonable and moderate, soes I could get reelected.
Oh. Oh, well, that's jolly good. Well, off you go, then.
Republican 3: Naa, I'm only pulling your leg. It's strip people of healthcare, really.
Oh, ho ho.
Republican 3: Heh heh heh hehh.
I see. Uh, very good. Very good. Well, out of the door. One--
Republican 3: Yeah. I know the way. Out of the door.
Apologies to the Pythons
Why is this news? It seems that this is part of the Usual GOP Dance: some subset of legislators from purplish states express āconcernā as some sort of innoculative ritual that they will point to later as some indication of their Moderate Cred, but as Josh has pointed out frequently, they Always Cave. Always. Wouldnāt it make more sense to skip these sorts of stories as the predictable background noise that they are?
Does everyone in the GOP live in a vacuum? If so, why do they still have an air supply? Canāt anything be done?
And Iām sure āBitchā McConnell will take these concerns under advisementā¦and then do what his corporate masters pay him to do. The one good thing is that he and the rest of his monstrous underlings in the Senate will āownā this.
Perhaps the GOP should get an email-blast with this info? We want them to be safe when they cave, donāt we?
I was tempted to click on this link
but I was afraid it would just send me back to the RNC.
Hereās what I what to know. Why do they continue with this ridiculous pantomime? Itās like watching a Punch and Judy Show. Everybody knows the bloody characters and everybody knows whatās going to bloody happen. Mr. Punch and Judy will fight. Mr. Punch will throw the baby out the window and hit Judy and others with a stick Mr. Scaramouche will dance the fandango.
What the fuck is wrong with our national press corps? Call out this ritualistic bullshit.
Schlemielunkers??
I wish someone would kick their collective karstā¦
It is so hard to listen to these Republicans expressing such angst over what a horrible bill this is.
I feel their pain.
And their pain is not nearly severe enough.
Barbarians at the gates with tar and feathers.
As the great Gordon Lightfoot once sangā¦Baby step back baby step back / Either step up or step back / ā¦try doing something for America fellas,weāve had enough slight of hand and empty theatrics.
āI have deep concerns with details in the U.S. Senateās plan to fix Americaās health care system ā¦"
Thatās where you went wrong, Governor. Fixing the health care system was never the objective.
Pile the dead in the Rotunda, in their statehouses and on their lawns. Make them eat and breathe the nightmare they designed.
Kasich is part of a bipartisan group of governors who put out a joint statement last week that denounced the House GOPās Obamacare repeal bill and urged Senate Democrats and Republicans to work together on their own plan.
As it relates to the six governors who put their names to that document, three of em (Sandoval, Kasich n Hickenlooper) are term limited and Baker strangely might get primaried.
Also Sandoval vetoed his stateās attempt at a getting Medicaid exchange (?) in place.
Weāll know Kasich is serious when he progresses to furious chin-stroking.
Shut up and accept your tax cut, John. This has nothing to do with healthcare.
Kasich can take his āconcernā and put it where the sun donāt shine. His āconcernā is about as useful as strongly worded letters.
Not nearly as bad as itāll be in the South and Midwest.
