Discussion: Sinclair Exec Defends 'Must-Run' Script In Memo To Staff

Russia Today and Pravda could not have said it better. Propaganda is propaganda is propaganda, and in this case, Sinclair epitomizes “Fake News” with an Orwellian and Putin tilt.

Isn’t local news supposed to be just that, local?

Propaganda works -Sinclair knows this. Not sure if the home office expected the push back though.

These scum make Fox News almost seem like a bastion of journalism. And, sadly, they are going to get their hands on WPIX here in NYC as part of the Tribune deal.

Dan Rather has it exactly right:

"News anchors looking into camera and reading a script handed down by a
corporate overlord, words meant to obscure the truth not elucidate it,
isn’t journalism. It’s propaganda. It’s Orwellian. A slippery slope to
how despots wrest power, silence dissent, and oppress the masses.

And we are allowing Sinclair Broadcasting to further extend their ownership of local broadcast outlets to 233 television stations that reach 72 percent of U.S. households because . . . ? Talk about a model for a state propaganda machine. Orwell would be impressed, and not in a good way.

This must be stopped!

Tumbrel time, Scotty old fella. We’re going to take the country back and then make a few laws here and there so rich punks like you can’t take unfair advantage. You want to see a reaction to overreach? Just sit tight, we’re coming.

Trump’s post White House years will become even more insufferable in more ways than i dare to imagine. Likely Sinclair will eventually morph into “Trump TV”.

Not sure TV networks have satellite studios in federal penitentiaries, although a couple of them might request that in years to come.

“Take away the newspaper—and this country of ours would become a scene of chaos. Without daily assurance of the exact facts—so far as we are able to know and publish them—the public imagination would run riot. Ten days without the daily newspaper and the strong pressure of worry and fear would throw the people of this country into mob hysteria—feeding upon rumors, alarms, terrified by bugbears and illusions. We have become the watchmen of the night and of a troubled day. . . .” ― Harry Chandler

They’ll evolve and adapt. It’s scary to think about just what they will look like in a few years???

I would be fine if they called out the actual fake news purveyors…

Nothing like a little self-criticism.

It’s just the big fat foot in the door. Once they’re in it’s going to be hell.

Oh horsepucky. How stupid do they think we are? Or the people that work for them? This is the ‘daddy’ syndrome. ‘I’m telling you what’s good for you and you’d better listen!’ Did any of these jackholes grow up in AMERICA???

I think they might have done more damage to their cause than simply not running anything at all.

Dumbasses.

Leaks. This is how the staff fight back. Leak until it hurts Sinclair so badly they stop.

And again, if you live in one of the markets served by Sinclair, write the FCC and ask that their license not be renewed.

There’s no news in FOX and no truth in Sinclair.

Yes they did but they didn’t like what they saw. They’re basically authoritarians who wish for a tin pot dictator to run the place.

They know exactly how stupid 33%+ of the voters are. They are now coming into local news where strong partisanship is not expected and pushing hard core propaganda while claiming they are innocent.

Too many will believe them.

That’s right out of the Soviet days.
Pravda (The Truth) and Isvestia (The Information or News) were the two major papers. Then it was said there was “no news in Pravda” and “no truth in Isvestia”.
