Discussion: Sinclair Exec Defends 'Must-Run' Script In Memo To Staff

He obviously wants to compete with Fox News to become official State News once Trump completes the coup.
Seriously, what are Fox and Sinclair thinking? They’ve got to know by now that Trump conspired with the Russians and (possibly) others to “win” the election. When the shit hits the fan and people start going to jail, what are these networks going to say? Oops! My Bad? I guess we got it wrong?
Do they think they’ll continue to gaslight the US public after Trump is in jail?

There are times when I wish Mueller would hurry up - I’m afraid that right-wing media will succeed. By the time Mueller brings charges, too many citizens will be too confused to know what is real and what is fake. That is their goal.
Than again, somewhere in the back of my mind I’m thinking this will all be over when Mueller wraps it up. I’m beginning to think that’s wrong. Fox and Sinclair have NO intention of giving up. They’ll find another Trump and keep gaslighting.

My 2 cents - Mueller will never indict Trump. At best he’ll hand over the information to Congress and the Republicans will stuff it ALL in their pockets and say thank you.
Trump will then pardon all his friends ala Joe Arpaio. Who’s going to stop him?

I think the fact that it’s called a “must run” wipes out the credibility of any defense.

In England, aren’t news anchors called “News Readers”? We should use that term too. Or maybe just “Readers” then they can all read ironically synchronized screeds about verbal sameness together and at least not be misnamed.

Does anyone really watch news on TV anymore?

But no ABC affiliate is required to run any particular ABC show. There is no “must-run” relationship between network and affiliate.

And even for the O&Os there’s a clear distinction between network and local content.

“well-researched journalistic initiative”

Shortly after that moment, I would have been hauled into HR and read the riot act. I continually misconstrue such things as being in good humor and worthy of a hearty laugh.

Note how he tries to fog the issue when using the examples of George Stephanopoulos at ABC who was in the Clinton administration as well as Chris Mathews who worked for Carter and Tip O’Neil.
There are numerous examples at Fox such as Tony Snow or CNN with the Reagan Bush and Clinton hand David Gergen.
There is a distinction as those who were hired for their experience in government as pundits.

I’m so happy that Tweety never

A) had to get into an anger management program

B) said that blacks were killing each other by the bushel.

C) had an arrest warrant get mysteriously squashed.

But hey, #bothsides

Ummm nope.

It would be a barometer either way.

LOL btw I hate the original of that expression. Obama did a lot of explainering and he won the Presidency twice.

Weasel words.

In the UK they often use the term “Presenters” distinguishing them from true journalists.

Yes, they grew up in CORPORATE AMERICA.

George S.and Chris Mathews are part of the Media establishment. Having worked for a President or another office holder should disqualify them from reporting straight news. Sorry but they are always trying to prove they are not biased. There are plenty of reporters out there who haven’t worked in government. Gergen, Snow etc. are not to be taken seriously.
