Discussion: ‘Simply False’: Obama Spox Denies Trump Wire Tap Accusation

The Ooompa-Loompa-in-Chief deplaing in Orlando today, looking downright Presidential…

If there is one thing I’ve learned in 8 years of having Obama as my President, its that he has enough built-in credibility and honesty, (not to mention the most scandal-free Presidency in practically forever), that when he says something via his spokesperson…he ought to be believed. I certainly believe him.

The country would do well to believe a man of integrity before they buy into that Orange Fuck’s bluster and constant bullshit. The buffoon that occupies the Oval Office now hasn’t earned that kind of credibility, since all he’s done is lie to the American people from the beginning.

Totally agree, and even if he did try something under-handed, Michelle would have opened a can of Whup-ass on him.

The statement is so carefully worded that I have gotten a giggle out of it.

As part of Obama’s practice to never interfere in an investigation by an agency, he would have never ordered wiretaps.

Because it would have interfered with the taps that apparently were already in place due to the investigation. That’s how I read this.

Calling my shot: in the 2035 opera, Trump, “Nazi” is rhymed with “Yahtzee.”

More like “The Deep Derp” on their part.

Also this - and with additional snark and knife twisting - from CNN and other sources:

“Former Obama deputy national security adviser Ben Rhodes echoed the point in a tweet responding to Trump on Saturday morning.
‘No President can order a wiretap. Those restrictions were put in place to protect citizens from people like you,’ he said in his Twitter post.”

Trump better be ready if he’s going to get into a fight with the Obama administration AND the intelligence community.

Frankly, I am very glad that Obama, through a spokesman, quickly responded to this latest stupidity from Trump. By the same token, I am amazed that anyone, and especially any of the few respected Republicans have given these tweets any credibility whatsoever.

I am more and more convinced that Donald Trump is truly insane, a genuine madman. Clearly I am not a psychiatrist, and I have no direct personal contact with the man. That said, I have long believed in the wisdom of Occam’s Razor, and after nearly two years of observing Trump’s behavior since he announced his candidacy, and reflecting upon some key elements of his life, I am convinced that he is truly crazy, and very dangerous.

Time to seriously consider how to implement the 25th amendment.

Lindsey Gal Graham and Grampy Cryptkeeper McCain were going to attend rally’s today, but they were pirouetting so furiously over whether to join the Pro-Trump or Anti-Trump groups, they drilled themselves into the ground.

That, and the 25th!

I don’t believe there is a constitutional apparatus for this to actually happen. They could all go to jail one by one, but we’d just keep going down the chain of command until only the guy they forgot to fire ahead of time was left.

“Neither President Obama nor any White House official ever ordered surveillance on any U.S. citizen,” Lewis said.

Am I missing something here? Lewis did not say that someone at the FBI or NSA could have sought the warrant, right?

That’s right.

No worries, the 15th was / is equally applicable…

The Fifteenth Amendment (Amendment XV) to the United States Constitution prohibits the federal and state governments from denying a citizen the right to vote based on that citizen’s “race, color, or previous condition of servitude”.

Correct. The FBI conducts wire taps all the time in criminal cases. They get a judge to examine the evidence and give them the warrant. But the President is never supposed to be part of the process for obvious reasons. What Trump said, however, was that Obama tapped him. That’s just insane.

Looks like Trump slimmed down a bit. Instead of looking like Jabba the Hutt, now he looks like Max Bialystock:

OK, good. Because I actually want there to have been a wiretap. Some people seem to be reading the Obama statement as there was none, not even ordered by FBI or NSA and granted through FISA.

That’s why it was such a beautifully crafted response. Amazing what intelligence can do in communicating with folks, unlike Tweety Bird…
