This is so disgusting and another reason to be outraged. I lived in the Westwood Village (near UCLA campus) when the hostage crises happened.Prior to that time, many persian/iranians had already fled the country knowing what was going to happen. They were all successful business people and opened up businesses in Beverly Hills (5 miles east of Westwood) and many lived in Westwood. Their businesses were burned - they were under constant attack and even the educated people I worked with were full of hate. Most of those iranian/persian businesses and residents were jews.

It is to be hoped that the person who did this will be made an example of and not given a year’s probation and a few hours of community service.

But when I talk with younger people I sense no degree of apprehension or concern about the Right. I taught for many years and, as someone who advised, tested, graded, recommended and supervised students I could sense concern an apprehension in young people.
I sense very little.

This is absolutely a HATE CRIME and an intolerable one at that. It is not fair to automatically think that all HATE CRIMES happen in the South. This gentleman of the Sikh faith should have never been abused for another person’s horrible actions but people need to also realize that South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley brutally attacked the South and the Confederacy and her herself is of the Sikh Faith even though she supposedly changed to Christianity. Nikki Haley and many others refused to educate themselves even though it was placed before her about the issues of Slavery and intolerance. She allowed the NAACP, Black Panthers and other individuals that discriminate on untrue historical facts. Slavery was created in the 1600’s by a black man named Anthony Johnson who took a case to court which placed the first black man into lifetime slavery. Not only did Anthony Johnson have black slaves but he and his son as well had numerous white slaves as well. Anthony Johnson became the first slave owner and slave trader in America. People also do not discuss that Abraham Lincoln committed treason by violating the Constitution on numerous accounts which contributed to the start of the Civil War but Lincoln himself approved slavery by illegally placing immigrants into his armed forces by utilizing an illegal draft. People need to study these issues and realize that by Lincoln doing these things and allowing Grant, Sherman and other Union troops to commit War Crimes and atrocities across the South to both Blacks and Whites. Everything Lincoln instilled is Null and Void because he was an ineligible President and the South is still a separate entity from the Union and the South does not have to recognize any Federal Laws, Civil Rights or anything else because Lincoln began Reconstruction and everything set forth is invalid under The U.S. Constitution.
Another right wing Republican inspired attack on a man who was just minding his own business. After 9/11 the Republican’s went all in on the hatred for Muslims and for that fact anyone who isn’t white, fat ignorant, carrying an AR 15 and screwing his sister! This is just sad and a blight on what it means to be American. Sad very sad!!

It is a bit of a stretch to call Darien a suburb of Chicago. It is at least an hour’s drive to the city unless you are going at 3 AM or something. If you live in Darien, you are highly unlikely to have any contact with Chicago itself. It is in the deepest heart of Red State Exurbland.
