Discussion: Shulkin: Trump Didn't Tell Me I Was Fired In Phone Call On Day Of My Ouster

From an old drinking song
Trump
No balls at all
No left one, no right one, not even a slight one
No balls at all

Abject coward.

“Another trump cabinet member suffers humiliating indignities by trump” is surely the most unsurprising headline of 2018.

Trumpism is about bringing the bulldozer to institutions built over decades, even centuries, mostly for short-term gain and looting of spoils. While “privatization” is just another euphemism for looting in this case, there are deeper issues not addressed. For example, war has changed. In WWII you pretty much had to sit under a big gun to get your eardrums blown out. The Iraq and Afghanistan wars left many with tinnitus due to regular exposure to IEDs and other shocks, including TBIs. Destroying the institution is one way, albeit clumsy, to try and put such problems back in the box.

Well, gee, you know, if I fire someone, they might not like me.

I hope there are at least a few who voted for this human train wreck beginning to recognize how they were taken in.

Apparently, the only place Trump is comfortable barking out, “you’re fired” is on reality TV and at campaign rallies where he wants to vent about NFL players taking a knee. One-on-one, face-to-face with real people in real situations, he’s a coward. Goes hand-in-hand with being a bully.

If this man has any redeeming qualities, I’m completely in the dark as to what they are.

I’m also still in the dark about why or how Trump ever nominated David Shulkin to be Secretary of Veterans’ Affairs: he was an Obama appointee, and he’s strongly opposed to privatization. I’m glad Shulkin is speaking out and calling BS on what’s going on at the VA.

Is there any department that isn’t systematically being turned into the antithesis of what it’s supposed to be about? Zinke and Pruitt are getting rid of environmental protections and looking to frack and drill and mine whatever unspoiled land we have. Betsy DeVos is trying to kill public education. Alex Acosta is turning the Department of Labor into an agency that protects employers, not their employees. Ben Carson is rolling back anti-discrimination regulations and initiatives at HUD. HHS is working to undermine every element of any regulation, rule or policy designed to actually help people.

This whole thing with the VA is about two things: diverting as much of the VA’s $200 billion budget to the private sector as possible, which will, in turn, have the effect of making the agency so dysfunctional that the idea of modeling the rest of the nation’s health care system on the VA’s single-payer approach to care will be DOA, with no chance of resuscitation.

The best people? If you’re trying to create a hell on earth, sure; otherwise, I don’t think so.

You have to admit that it is disgustingly ironic that a guy who gained fame (on a reality TV show) for pretending to fire people, can’t manage to say the words “You’re fired!” for real.

All of the above.

Or, as my version goes,

No balls at all,
No balls at all,
A very small penis, and
No balls at all.

If Trump had the gumption to actually call Shulkin to terminate him would he then say “he knew what he signed up for”?

Withholding that was an erotic temptation Donald could not resist.

Like telling everyone of course he’d release his tax returns.

Yup. Apparently, it’s much easier to play a leader on TV than to be a leader in real life. Who knew?

Morale has left the building!

Shulkin, you’re lucky to get out. It wasn’t gonna get better for you or anyone else.
