“They saw me as an obstacle to privatization who had to be removed. That is because I am convinced that privatization is a political issue aimed at rewarding select people and companies with profits, even if it undermines care for veterans,”

You see, Mr. Shilling, there’s this political party that you belong to called the Republican Party. There was also this guy who you worked for called Donald Trump…

Maybe if you hadn’t abused the taxpayers’ trust with your stupid ass personal travel on your government amex you’d still have a job you fucktwit.

I don’t understand this phase in the article: “certain successes at the VA, such as working more closely with the VA”

you’re not wearing the correct glasses.

“Unfortunately, the department has become entangled in a brutal power struggle, with some political appointees choosing to promote their agendas instead of what’s best for veterans,” he wrote.

Hmm …

Yes They would love to get their slimy fingers on the VA and make a profit on the backs of sick veterans with Mr and Mrs taxpayer picking up the tab.
Oh and a reminder
Fascism /ˈfæʃɪzəm/ is a form of radical authoritarian nationalism, characterized by dictatorial power, forcible suppression of opposition and control of industry and commerce, which came to prominence in early 20th-century Europe. The first fascist movements emerged in Italy during World War I before it spread to other European countries.Opposed to liberalism, Marxism and anarchism, fascism is usually placed on the far-right within the traditional left–right spectrum.

Help me out here; has the Grand Dotard visited Walter Reed, or any other veteran’s hospital(s) yet? He proposed a 6% increase in the overall VA budget, so he should be mugging for the cameras with a couple of bed-ridden vets, unless that’s too icky for him. (Lots of germs in those hospitals, you know.)

If any of my sister and brother Vets think that 5 Deferment Don is our friend, please think again.
He has mocked POW’s and Gold Star families and publicly accepted a copy of a Purple Heart.
Having helped care for Vietnam wounded, these mocks by a coward can bring tears to my eyes.
Trump is for Trump and anyone he can help ripoff our country.

Just about the surest route to contracting some sort of infection is to set foot in a hospital.

Name names. Otherwise this is just useless whining.

Veterans already have the option to go to a private doctor. That is*, IF* they can find one who will assist veterans specific issues. Going onto the private market is no great solution for veterans considered non-veterans are already dealing with an overburdened healthcare system.

“I always wanted to get the Purple Heart” - beyond cringe worthy dotard utterance.

Yet Pruitt and Zinke still have their jobs. He deserved to lose his job for this?

I can believe Shulkin’s reasoning here, because some have been talking about privatization for a while now. He was against it, so he had to go. And what better person to choose to run it now than someone who has no administrative experience, who will rely on people there for advice about “running” the VA. But this is also someone with the necessary qualification of successfully putting lipstick on a pig.

They will, of course, tout any small success, just as Trump has done with job growth. As we’ve come to learn, that success has turned out to be very small or almost nonexistent, certainly not what was promised.

Good luck, vets. A lot of people are going to make lots of money, but the track record of these grifters makes me believe that vets will get shafted.

Sickening.

This is like school vouchers, only worse. For every dollar diverted to private doctors (and private testing companies and clinics and CT/MRI facilities) that will be at least a dollar cut from the hospitals and clinics currently treating veterans.

Maybe Rick Scott can start a new company.

do not think for a moment that the stable genus (of hookworms) hasn’t wanted to flush these rat turds down the commode as well; his staff is apparently working OT to keep him from going beyond nutso in his firings.

Not sure exactly, but the VA is basically two huge orgs. One is VA medical, where the VAST majority of VA personnel work. Shulkin managed that during its recent revival. Then there is VA benefits, which manage “everything else”. And yes, they did not communicate very well until recently.

You always wanted to be wounded in combat? Then why did you take 5 draft deferments Cadet Bone Spurs?

@uneducated, the way I remember it, when the veteran gave Trump the Purple Heart, Trump, lacking all class, asked “Is this a real one?”, and the vet said “Yes”. Did it came out later that it was a replica?

Like every other Trump official, spending public money on lavish vacations- except in this case he’s fired.

Quit your whining, vermin.
