My husband, who gets his care through the VA, tells me that if an appointment cannot be made for you within 30 days, they have to refer you out - but I don’t believe you have the choice of which private provider to see.

If I remember correctly the Vet made a copy of the one he earned.
That might have been the reason some people were requesting his head to the president. However, Trump doesn’t even know what the VA does (proof of that is that he nominated the WH doctor to lead it) much less what the best way for the VA to do whatever it does.
Trump fired him because he and his wife got caught with their hands in the cookie jar, and made him look bad plus, he was a “holdover” from the “deep-state”

There were two things I never understood about the Shulkin nomination: (1) he was opposed to privatization and (2) he was appointed Undersecretary by Obama.

Military medals are for sale. Vets lose their medals (or they are stolen or …)
My son wanted a shadow box of my father’s WW-2 awards. Dad never had any of the medals, but I was able to order replicas to give my son.

Walter Reed Army Medical Center is not a VA hospital, but then again it would be just like Trump to visit Walter Reed and then prattle on about “what a beautiful VA hospital this is.”

Dems should be raising a big issue about this. This doc is completely unqualified for this role and will jeopardize the health care of thousands of vets. Veterans groups need to be telling their members that Trumpism affects them too and not in a good way. It’s a good opportunity to educate a generally pro-Trump constituency on the dangers of slavish loyalty to the GOP or to Trump. Trumpism hurts everyone.
