Discussion: Short Tempers And Mass Confusion: O'care Repeal Is Going Awesome

Who could possibly have foreseen that it would be impossible to reconcile the demands of those who believe Obamacare was a dangerous, unwarranted expansion of government power and intrusion that must be uprooted at all costs with those who think destroying Medicaid and destabilizing the private insurance market will be bad for them electorally?

Hold on while I wipe away a tear for the poor embattled Goopers here…

…and while I catch my breath from a veritable paroxysm of laughter.

These SOBs deserve everything they are getting and then some.

Who knew doing big things was hard? Who knew healthcare was complicated? Who knew 75 gazallion repeal votes don’t magically create a replacement plan?

“Not everybody is having a good time,” Sen. Bob Corker (R-TN) said, throwing up his hands as he descended the Capitol’s marble staircase.

Awww, that’s so sad. My heart breaks you.

I know! Robbing middle and working class families, those with disabilities, and the elderly of their health insurance was supposed to be a blast.

The marble staircase! That’s a nice touch.

“The Medicaid piece really matters to me—and what I’m hearing is that’s going to be the same, so that would be a big problem for me”-Collins

Let’s dissect this.

First:

“The Medicaid piece really matters to me.” The other pieces, not so much?

Second:

“So that would be a big problem for me.” Because it is all about you, and your shot at the governor’s mansion.

Another profile in covfefe! But at least maybe she’ll remain a no. (One can hope.)

But several other lawmakers say their votes are off the table if the Cruz amendment is adopted, raising concerns that it would lower premiums for the young and healthy by making them skyrocket for elderly, disabled, and sick Americans.

It almost sounds as if some members of the GOP are slowly becoming aware of the interconnectedness of all things in the health insurance market.

Relying on GOP chaos to kill their own bill is not a good strategy. The Democrats need to have enough amendments in place to flood (and thereby shut down) the reconciliation process with a vote-a-rama with say 40K different amendments. Run out the clock on this Congress.

Or at least that their constituents may not like having access to health care but no actual health care.

Dear GOP. Thanks!

These do not sound like the comments of folks who are eager to see a new wealth care/fuck the poor & unhealthy bill. The air is coming out of the repeal balloon.

This bill is losing support because Senate Republicans no longer believe in hitching themselves so closely to the Trump Presidency. They would get on board for other things, even that stupid wall, but not this.

Way too many syllables for them to comprehend…

So the media turns it’s attention away from Russia as Goopers requested and the results are as amazing as expected.

Taking away health care from people is “going awesome.” ???

Ahhh…I just love the classics…

The tweaks, however, seem to have accomplished little more than pissing off both camps.

That’s a wonderful sentence.
