None of these changes affect the fundamental problem with US healthcare-that it costs at least 150% of what every other country spends (and that includes some that are not single payer, like Germany and Switzerland). Any attempt to lower the cost of health insurance without lowering the cost of health CARE will fail dismally.

Isn’t it possible that Rand and Cruz and other intractables are giving McConnell cover, so he can point to a “good-faith” effort to repeal the ACA that, tragically, failed and then move on at last to the stuff he really cares about? Even the Republicans might lack the stomach for the mayhem caused by repealing the ACA, the passage of which in 2010 was a miracle. This is kabuki theater.

Hey if McConnell wants to shut down reconciliation on their own shitty bill with there own vote-a-rama, works for me. But Democrats need to be read to shut it down in reconciliation via our vote-a-rama (per the link I supplied).

Rand Paul is an ideologue with little imagination or sense of team play;
Ted Cruz is a self obsessed megalomaniac with a cruel streak.
Neither seems a good candidate for giving an “assist” of that sort.
