Discussion: Shep Smith Shuts Down Fox Hosts' Questions About Baltimore Riots (VIDEO)

Discussion for article #235743

As Smith updated the hosts on the turmoil in Baltimore, co-host Eric Bolling asked about the presence of civil rights leaders.

“I haven’t heard anything from any civil rights leaders. Have you?” Bolling asked.

Whoa wait. I thought civil rights leaders’ presence were bad - something about race hustlers and stirring the pot.
So now these kooks are complaining that they are not there?

I suspect if they were there, the same host would be complaining about that. Just a hunch.

Shep Smith seems to be the only one in that cesspool which passes for a “News Channel” to have a shred of humanity. I wonder how he manages to retain his humanity. Hope they pay him enough to make it worth it.

The co-hosts are merely representing the scared old white people who watch. when they aren’t yelling “get off my lawn.”

I only see the clips of him like this, when he’s trying to be an actual journalist in the face of the propaganda machine. Is he always like this? Or am I only seeing the rare instances? I can’t watch Fox Fake News. It hurts my soul.

I wonder why CNN doesn’t jettison Lemon and make an offer to Smith…

Roger isn’t going to like this. Not following script.

So when the next crowd gathers after a sporting event because their team either won or lost
and burns up cars and a couple of blocks----over sports, will Eric be asking where the parents
or white leaders are?

I think that Shep isolates himself because he must ask himself everyday “Why am I here?” Unless it’s payday and then he knows.

Shep is the token “reporter” that Fox can point to and say they are giving fair and balanced news. If he were to leave it would take the cap off that cesspit and all the angry old white people would jump in feetfirst.

Wait, is that a bad thing?

This sad episode is a wingnut wet dream. I thought that the GOP doubling down on racist rhetoric was a sure looser, short and long term. I fear that these images will shake loose some whites who were unmoved by the dog whistle messages but can be scared enough by images of marauding urban blacks. Hope I’m wrong.

Oh please, Shep has been doing this for years. His ratings are great, so Roger could care less. Hell, if Hannity’s ratings tanked, he’s done. It’s all about ratings.

FOX has the big bucks. Plus he is now managing editor of the breaking news division. I think it’s good that he is there, the FOX audience needs to see some rational thought, and since they never change the channel, at least they will see some from Shep.

It’s more important that FOX viewers get to hear this from “one of their own.”

Sh…t must be getting really really real for a lot of people if have someone on Faux Snews correcting ignorance. I guess Shep finally sees the pattern.

I think he enjoys confronting the idiots at his station. I would note that many people only watch FOX, so they get to see some sanity with Shep, and that is a good thing. I like that he takes these clowns on right on their home turf, THAT is what good journalism is all about. He gets right in their faces and calls out their BS.

I seriously doubt that the FOX audience listens to him. I think it’s possible that they take him as seriously as they did Alan Colmes. Which is, not at all. What’s the damn point?

Not all of them do, but many do. Just check his ratings.

Alan Colmes had no balls or presence. Total wimp. Shep has a dynamic approach and personality. And obviously lots of the FOX crowd pays attention, or his ratings would be zero. You don’t think the MSNBC crowd tunes into Shep, do you?
