Give everyone the same chance to have their vote counted. This is supposed to be a democracy.
So the republicans wanted fewer votes to be counted, and the democrats want more, even if they’re republican votes. Good on them.
Arizona, you should be consulting a doctor if your election lasts more than 5 days…
Going high when others go low
It is hard to tell from the story, but it sounds like the Republicans’ suit sort of backfired.
Arizona is notoriously slow at tallying ballots even though about 75 percent of votes are cast by mail. Each of those ballots must go through a laborious verification process
Jeebus, AP writers, use your noggins. Arizona is slow because, not “even though”, 75% of their ballots are mailed in and must go through a “laborious verification process.”
Is it in your style manual that facts must not be considered sufficient to illuminate what has happened, that there must be an unresolved controversy at the heart of every matter?
Rural voters are salt of the earth, and by that I mean dumber than fuck
Right. They cried “unfair” to get the ballot verification stopped. Instead, any unfairness was addressed by expanding the extended ballot verification to all counties.
Maybe the writer was thinking “if they do 75% of their voting this way, you’d think maybe they’d be a little more efficient at it” … or maybe I’m trying too hard to find sense there.
And Sinema is now up by 20,000 votes… but 400,000 left to be counted.
As of a few minutes ago Sinema had increased her lead to a full point. 20,203 to be exact. which is 49.3% while McSally is at 48.3%
Hold on there Sparky, I grew up in a very rural setting. None of my family, although republican, were wing nuts. Their party left them. I on the other hand went independent but lefty. Oh, and all of my family, although living on a farm, went to college and graduated except my dad who’s college career was interrupted by WW2 in which he served in combat.
Do the Republican voters know that their own party doesn’t want to count their votes?
I wonder if they even care. Probably not if the AZ GOP tells them it’s their way of pwning the libs.
Sinema’s lead is up to 20k now. Not sure McSally can make that up with a few rural provisional ballots. I guess we will see. I think Republicans will use this tactic in Florida by reviewing the vote and trying to toss out votes for Nelson & Gillum
Sources say that truth may or may not be an objective or subjective fact or observation.
Fucking AP.
I guess it is due to the rural voting patterns, precinct size and the West Coast effect, but these Blue waves take forever to crest, on the other hand big R victories are obvious by 10:30 PM…
Secretary of State could be in play now, too, unless we’ve been seeing mostly ballots from Pima and from the less conservative areas of Maricopa. The number changes in that race have been tracking pretty closely with those in the US Senate race and the Superintendent of Public Instruction contest.
I haven’t been paying attention to the numbers on Senate District 28, but the Dem is only 616 behind the GOP incumbent in that race. From district maps, it appears to be Paradise Valley plus a chunk of Phoenix mostly to the East and Northeast of PV. That didn’t tell me much, but maybe you know the lean of that areas. It might be hard to close even a 616 gap at this point, with the smaller number of votes and a district that likely is purple at best.
Dems and Repubs are playing together ? Wadda ya know .
It only has to be a DEMOCRACy when a DEMOCRAt is in the running. With today’s GOP that is minimized by voter restrictions.
