Discussion: Sessions Says Arresting Assange Is A ‘Priority,’ Won’t Clarify Charges

Someone wants Assange safely tucked away where the media can’t hear him spill the beans on the Trump-Russia shit.

Charge #1: He’s told people through back-channels that he’s ready to roll on Pooty and give up the Trump connection.

Charge #2: We don’t have a “friend” in the embassy that can feed him Polonium.

Who does Sessions think he is? J Edgar Hoover?

I bet Jeff has a retro black lace Balenciaga hung deep in his closet, too.

Something smells here. Is he going to die mysteriously while being apprehended? We all know the tales dead men tell…

Assange worked hard to help Russia defeat Clinton and frequently disparaged her. Now, the guy he helped elect is going to make his life a further misery. Somebody give me a hanky! LOL!

Oh, please. Assange isn’t going to spill any beans. He operated as Putin’s bitch and is getting exactly what he deserves. Well, not exactly since this shit stain of an administration can’t even figure out what crime he’s committed.

Assange is a bad guy. That’s why Trump asked Russia for help—to keep his hands clean.

“Shot, trying to flee…” is the old standard…

Isn’t vaguely disturbing the AG of the USA is not able to come up with some ‘probable cause’ when making such a threat ?

Cession’s trial balloon–sounding out Comey about indicting Assange for “deviationism”–crashed and burned. Time to go back to your copy of Uncle Joe’s playbook, you Keebler™ reject.

As Assange is part of the Russian hacking and such, Sessions shouldn’t be making public statements about this as he is recused from this investigation. But of course this was done as a distraction.

I don’t think that at all. Assange is just a distraction and I couldn’t care less if he worked for the Russians. Come on Congress, get on with this investigation and ignore whatever Sessions says. Otherwise, will somebody leak the Donald’s tax return for the last five years or so? FFS. This cannot just pass.

Hey Jeff. It shouldn’t be too hard. After all, he’s only on some “island in the Atlantic”.

I care that he worked with the Russians. Just like I cared when Snowden worked with the Russians. Just like I cared when Assange leaked those diplomatic cables that showed NO State department wrongdoing, intrusion or overreach and made US diplomacy much more difficult.

In foreign affairs, there are two options: diplomacy and war. Call me crazy, but I prefer the former.

While it’s possible she may continue to come through, AFAIK bipartisan color for the Senate investigation depends on Sen. Collins. Regarding the house Ms Posner of the WaPo yesterday identified the focus of the House Russia inquiry to be Public Enemy #1, Susan Rice. What can you say.
On a brighter note, what charges do you anticiapte for Carte Page? TIA.

So, between this and people in govt agencies getting email reminders of not sharing unauthorized disclosures of classified information, I’m wondering what sort of document dump we’re going to see today.

And how Chaffetz is involved…

I definitely believe that Assange/Wikileaks were co-conspirators with Russia and moved beyond simple journalism. Assange wants to act like he was a passive receiver of information. I don’t believe that for a second. However, belief isn’t evidence. I don’t know that this Administration has done enough to outline the distinction and factual basis for how Assange crossed the line to working as an agent of a foreign power to break our laws.

So I wonder if this is not just a distraction as knowing they have a first amendment hurdle, it goes nowhere but sucks up news cycles and feeds something to conservative media because they’re struggling to defend #trumprussia.

On the other hand, legal proceedings have a way of opening the floodgates of information and DT has never been able to control that. Most everything we know about his dealings comes from legal proceedings or disclosures.

Basically, I think Trump and Sessions know they have a weak hand on Russia and are being compelled to do something. Assange is the least damaging target because his connection to Trump is through Roger Stone and not someone who works in the gov’t.
