Discussion: Sessions Says Arresting Assange Is A ‘Priority,’ Won’t Clarify Charges

After Farage reports back to Il Duche on what he has on future Dem candidates, they’ll make a decision on his fate. Probably sometime in 2021.

Montana is holding a special election next month for it’s one House seat, to replace the guy who’s now in the PP administration. There will be no mail in ballot as was originally proposed by the legislature in order save $250,000 but shut down by the state’s R party chair. The election will be held on Thursday May 25.

Cheaper more efficient, of course we can’t do it that way.

Montana GOP Chair Afraid Of Too Much Voting | Rachel Maddow

Did you know that in the state of NC, if your ballot is spoiled or challenged for any reason, you don’t get notified at all.

In NH, the governor (a Sununu) has proposed to limit the voting population to people who can show proof of citizenship by paying utility bills. Renters, college students don’t usually do this, so it’s a great way to shave off a few points at the ballot box. NH has motor voter, same day registration and vaunted First in the Nation status. They encourage voting in order to keep the privilege of the primary, not anymore.

Hey, stop that. @sniffit is no walking carpet. Per one of the candidates in the French election, he’s “that weird bear.”

Yeah, bit of karma here, I do believe.

However, I suspect Drumpfie sees a threat that Assange could spill the beans on him, so he wants Assange in a nice warm jail cell, where they can constrict his internet access.

Of course, unless he conveniently “hangs himself” in his jail cell first.

Assange you are one lucky SOB if you get extradited to the US. Putin will have a harder time getting rid of you.

“[W]e have to recognize that we can no longer allow Assange and his colleagues the latitude to use free speech values against us."

By his colleagues, Pompeo ultimately means the Post and the NYT. Assange getting caught in the ringer?Couldn’t happen to a nicer guy. But this gang is still going to use this as a pretext for cracking down on all publishers. The next Pentagon Papers? Hell, the next Fat Leonard scandal? They’re going to try to smother those stories in the crib.

And the backstabbing begins!

“Everything” seems to be a priority – except filling all those U.S. Attorney openings that might actually do some law enforcement.

It was this segment of Rachel’s which informed me. You just know that a Koch organization has its fingers in this and all new voter suppression tactics but you’ll never find their fingerprints. There was voter suppression in 14 states in November, Kochs and others are aiming for all the red states.

This doesn’t smell right.

It’s too public, nobody can figure out what the charges would be, you can’t get to Assange without the cooperation of Ecuador, and the winner of Ecuador’s recent election has said that he’d continue to shelter Assange.

I could see how the release of the CIA hacking tools and documents might have the intelligence services very eager to shut down Wikileaks and find and plug the source(s) of the leaks, but none of that is reason for being so public about going after him. If you can move on him, you do it without warning. If you can’t move on him, you quietly try to figure out a way to change that.

Maybe they are trying to flush out someone in a US agency or agency contractor – see who makes a run to the hardware store to buy a sledgehammer and a big neodymium magnet?

As Josh has repeatedly noted, it is often hard to tell if there are good and clever reasons for Trump-related actions, or if it is just another case of moronic incompetence.

It seemed just like wild flailing to me too, although the suggestion that he could roll on Trump is a reasonable one. But I’m also wondering if it’s cover for an all-out assault on domestic leakers. They can’t keep a lid on anything if the leakers survive. I don’t think they can, actually, but if they want to stay out of prison they have to try.

Don’t we do “spy stuff” and “cloak and dagger” anymore ??? Why haven’t this guy and the traitor hiding in Russia disappeared ??? If Russia has folks that can perform those services why can’t our organizations do it ??? Just askin’ !!!

Bingo.

Assange and Wikileaks are now just tools of the FSB and if you want to arrest him as a co-conspirator in the attempt to skew the election, well that’s fine with me because we know that this was a direct attack by a foreign intelligence service.
Keep it narrowly focused on that issue and I can support it but not if it gets into the First Amendment.
