See? It ain’t so, Joe.
I have noticed that the Tree of Liberty has been looking a little droopy lately.
Joe and the Berniesaurus need to retire and write their memoirs.
I think this is an over-reading. It could equally be considered a signal to Sanders or Warren, and I don’t think Obama would be making a public signal which was subject to potential misinterpretation. More likely, I think, that if he thought Biden should stay out he’d just call Biden and tell him to stay out.
But who knows. Tea leaves are popular.

(Obama)
“We have a deficit of leadership, and we need new blood,” he said. True leadership features dialogue, listening, inclusion and a “commitment to human dignity.”
“People cling to power instead of seeing the power in other people,” he said.
Hello, Nancy? Are you there?
I wondered that too. If he wants to send signals he has no lack of ways to do it, and as you say he could just pick up the phone. It seems like a really long time ago, but wasn’t, that Obama was fresh blood himself. I don’t know about Asia but we could use some here. Go check out what James Fallows is talking about with the innovative leadership happening all across the country, below the radar of the national brouhaha. Good stuff.
Where is Fallows talking about that?
The former U.S. president launched a program in Hawaii this weekend aimed at nurturing future leaders in the Asia-Pacific region.
It’s an “East-West conference”. Perhaps his remarks are more global than domestic? Perhaps he’s referring to foreign leaders as well or rather than the leaders of the Democratic Party?
Dunno. Party needs fresh blood and lacks leadership? Seems pretty clear what he’s calling for.
Here! In his new book about the cool stuff they’ve found happening after bopping around in his plane for a few years chasing the stories:
¯_(ツ)_/¯
And it may well mean nothing at all, an empty statement which sounds nice. Not every comment in a political speech is inked in blood. Maybe it’s just supposed to sound soaring, forward-looking, optimistic.
Were the topic not so serious, I could imagine Obama looking at us all poring over his every word, looking for signal in the noise, and laughing. My fellow Americans, as a politician and as a human being sometimes I just like to hear myself talk.
Like rubles to an NRA convention.
Like when Boehner quit and obviously loved it, being able to just say what he wanted to say, all that.
Then this would be the 2nd time (I theek).
He mentioned something similar at an African leaders conference.
Everyone is acting like a bunch of stock jockies listening to a speech from the Fed Chair. Sheesh!
