Well, if this bill passes then at least we’ll have another good example of why elections matter. Of course the lesson will be lost (once again) on anyone who really needs to learn it but, hey, what about all of those emails, right?
Yeah can’t let the people know how badly they are about to screwed before the vote. Voting early gives them a chance to pass it before the public gets wind how truly awful this bill is
And considering how dems attack the dems for trying to help them somehow someway they will blame the dems for this instead of the gop
The cost? The number of uninsured? What the bill actually does? Who cares? You don’t need to know any of those things when you’re just looking to fund a massive tax cut for the wealthiest of the wealthy.
Or when people actually start losing insurance the GOP can claim ignorance later and they didn’t tell us that
It’s a Republican bill. People already know how truly awful it is.
But an Obamacare repeal would mean Donnie could pay for this…
No doubt, Donnie will be in the firetruck leading the parade…
Don’t forget all the speeches too.
I think the real issue is that the Senate can’t pass any reconciliation bill after Sept 30 so they would need 60 votes to pass anything after that date. That means they only have 12 days (assuming they work through the weekends) to pass anything. I don’t know if they actually get this through by then or not but, if not, we can rest easy that nothing will be accomplished by Congress this year.
Isn’t a CBO score required in order to use reconciliation?
The CBO only has to evaluate if a bill will increase the deficit before using reconciliation. How many people lose their insurance won’t be an issue.
You knew those fuckers would find a way…
So basically the only hope people have at this point is that the GOP remains inept
Let’s not lose sight here – the most important thing to remember is that Hillary did not pass the Bernie Bros’ purity test. All the rest are just details. Who care if millions lose coverage and millions get sick or die? You just have to remember that Bernie outperformed expectations in the primaries, and all will be well! That will keep the uninsured safe and healthy! The mere knowledge of Bernie’s purity has magical healing powers.
Unfortunately this country is full of people unable to think critically, gather information from sources other than the right wing propaganda machine, pay attention to what is going on, etc. I have given up on these people. If they have no more access to health care, it will be their own fault. There will be no jobs created by massive tax increases. I am not in a charitable mood today.
Pretty much, yeah.
And that is so sad in this day and time
You can always hope that individual senators keep their word, e.g., McCain insisting on regular order, Cassidy on passing the Jimmy Kimmel test…oops, that one’s already shot. And McCain is Graham’s buddy, not to mention that the AZ governor supports the bill. Nevermind!
CBO will not be able to provide point estimates of the effects on the deficit…
Wait, how do they pass it under reconciliation rules if they don’t know if it will increase or decrease the deficit?
