But she gave speeches to Goldman Sachs…

From your mouth…

I feel your pain.
I feel like I’m walking around with the Charlie Brown cloud of doom hanging over me .
What do we lose next? Every day a little bit of democracy departs

I would expect a vacancy in the Oval Office this summer.

Grassley must think that Justice Kennedy doesn’t read the paper or watch the news.

I see your point, if somewhat hyperbolic, but I was speaking about the integrity of the SCOTUS as an institution. We all knew that the court would be lost, with respect to impartial rulings, not influenced by partisan politics, for a generation, when so many folks stayed home or voted for the charlatan on Nov. 8.

“I don’t know about racial and ethnic divisions, but there’s some very good females on there that would make good Supreme Court Justices as well,” he said, according to the paper.

Like, maybe, Maryanne Trump Barry. Might as well go all in on this tin-pot dictatorship and rig the rules to get Dear Leader’s sister on SCOTUS.

At last, we’ll finally have a Supreme Court that looks out for the interests of our Corporate Overlords. About time!

Jill Stein is devoutly hoping that Ginsberg kicks the bucket because that means she’ll have the same malign impact on the Supreme Court as her equally egocentric Green Party predecessor, Ralph Nader.

Her oligarchic pal Putin would be highly pleased with that development too. He can invite her back to Moscow for another celebratory dinner, this time in honor of Stein’s direct role in the ongoing Republican destruction of our country.

Again, Chuck is lying. He has been doing this for 30 years so it is no surprise but it is still disappointing.

Who? Thomas? Kennedy?

IMO Grassley doesn’t know squat. Whenever one of these guys starts (justifiably) feeling small, he starts playing lets-go-downtown-and-beat-up-liberals.

If that should prove to be true and this President gets to appoint another conservative judge this soon, my worst nightmares from the election will have come true. I weep for the young people whose lives will be negatively impacted for decades to come (and still wonder how many of them could not see that both candidates were not the same.)

What other Democratic Party principles and initiatives would he be willing to get behind?

He is usually fairly conservative outside of a few social issues. Putting another hard right member would give Four hardcore conservative ideologues and Roberts as a corporate shill.

A conservative view of the law is not in and of itself a bad thing but the guy just put in the spot and conservative views anymore are based on some pretty wacky thoughts. More akin to what they were in the late 1800s or early 1900s than they are of modern society.

Prepare to kiss your rights goodbye America.

On that refusal [of the Senate to consider the Merrick Garland nomination to the Supreme Court], Grassley said Tuesday that, “[i]f there’s a vacancy in the last year of a presidency, people ought to have a voice.”

They did have a voice, when they elected Barack Obama to serve the 2013–17 presidential term. You jackass.

Yeah, he’s a stand-up guy.

There is a HUGE difference between “Conservative” views of law and the “Federalist Society” views of law that Gorsuch, Thomas (assuming he HAS any views on law) and Scalia (used to) espouse.
They all think that Dred-Scott was a correct decision and go down from there.
When someone says they are a “Constitutional Originalist” that means they believe firmly that only White, Male, Land-owners should have the right to vote and that slavery is an acceptable form of economic policy (just like in the “Original” Constitution. Anything else they tell you is just bullshit smokescreen.)
Many times they even hate the entire idea of a Constitutional Government and would prefer the REAL Original form laid out in the “Articles of Federation” that preceded the Constitution where there was no strong centralized government at all and it only existed to raise armies and levy tariffs.

But Hillary gave speeches to Wall Streeters, accepted the going rate and donated it to charity!
