There is a House group working on the same type of bill. They can force a discharge petition if they get all Dems and about 6 R’s on board.

Heh. If Collins and Murkowski are reasonable and actually seeking CSR fixes, then that would give Democrats a presumptive 13-10 vote on turning out a bill from Committee.

Wow. Uncharacteristically responsible for a Republican-controlled Senate. Wonder where we would be now if they had started working on this, say, over the past 3 years since they’ve been in charge? Or even the past few months instead of wasting their time trying to ram through a half-baked, massively unpopular, and unworkable ACA repeal bill that would have doomed millions of Americans to death and/or bankruptcy in the dead of night without hearings?

The Republican base will be very unhappy that experts will be consulted and that they’re going to proceed logically in reforming healthcare.
Still doesn’t guarantee a good bill, but hopefully they’ve gotten repeal, after about 50 votes, out of their system and can now work on strengthening Obamacare.
