I’m sure if the “rules for reconciliation” are in their way, those rules will be changed or disregarded. I’m not sure why those rules should be some special case of “rules that matter” or “rules that we must abide by to produce a legitimate law”.
“I think that most of our members have already been attacked over and over again on previous CBO scores for not having enough people covered back home"
Of course, this is because the CBO assumed incorrectly that red states wouldn’t screw their own people over by denying Medicaid expansion. The “fewer people covered back home” were “not covered” precisely because red states refused to accept those citizens’ own federal money to cover them as the law required.
Perhaps the Thune and others are really arguing for a more cynical CBO that should report: “Remember, The GOP are going to be total dicks about this. They will probably do any capricious, vengeful, and mean thing they can dream up at any point in the process. Even if it costs them money or other people’s lives, it might be worth it to them in some weird Universe of Assholery they have some dark, twisted stake in. Who the hell knows?”
I’m sure the well respected Senator Lindsey Graham can appear on all of the MSM shows to rationally explain his reasons for why it is necessary to screw over millions of people.
And Senator McCain can argue for regular order as he votes yes.
“We are ready as soon as there are 50 votes for it,” Senate Whip John Cornyn (R-TX) enthused Tuesday.
It makes me nervous that Cornyn´s hedging a bit. He´s usually cock sure and wrong about everything, so I don´t know what to make of his qualified prediction…
Short-circuiting the process of selecting a Supreme Court judge is one thing. He’s just one vote of many.
Short-circuiting the process that will affect the physical health and financial well-being of every citizen?
That’s irresponsibility.
Is there anyone that disputes the fact that one cannot be a member of the GOP, unless they commit to harming tens of millions of Americans?
This is standard procedure for the republicans. Any chance you can get to screw the little man you gotta take.
This will pass, millions will lose coverage and the dumb ass right wing masses will blame Obama as the reason they lost their insurance.
Someone needs to research whether or not these Republicans have their brokers out there shorting the health insurance industry right now.
Seriously, can anyone offer a better explanation for this fiasco?
Trump’s razor cuts deep on this one.
FUBAR = Fucked Up By A Republican
“To create an additional sense of urgency, Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) warned Tuesday that neither the White House nor the GOP House were prepared to support bipartisan efforts to stabilize or, in his words, “prop up” Obamacare. The message to wavering senators was that Obamacare will collapse anyway, so get on board with repeal.”
Slime
These “hearings” are to real hearings as the Moscow Show Trials were to real trials. These guys are true Stalinists.
The level of irresponsible behavior these people are showing will continue to erode the credability of our legislative branch…since the election of Trump, the cynicism toward long established institutions has taken a deserved hit. These people have disgraced their offices and behaved worse than school children on the playground. They are about to literally kill people with impunity all for the benefit of their wealthy friends. Hopefully we can go no lower than this but Don’t be surprised when they do…
Correction: FUBAR = Fucked Up By ALL Republicans.
Limited time only, so act now, vote today, offer good only while reconciliation lasts, all votes are final, allow 6 years for repercussions, health care not included, some coverage not available, some disassembly required, some restrictions may apply.
It’s almost like they were ramming Graham-Cassidy down our throats. The hypocrisy would be funny if the results weren’t so dire.
I don’t ordinarily say stuff like this–other people do:
I’m sure they told the reporters this, but…
These clowns don’t need justifications or fig-leaves on this. If they had the bleeping votes they’d ram it through.
I do say stuff like this:
It’s kabuki.
FUBAR, indeed. GOP is caught naked: “principles” mean nothing, ordinary voters mean nothing. All that counts are $$$$.
Whatever it takes to nullify Obama…they’ll do it.
I can’t think of a competent, effective black man being this vilified in my lifetime.
The messed up part is their own voters want them to fix the aca and they are not even listening to what they want
