I just saw a headline in the NY Times:
Playing Football Before 12 is Tied to Brain Problems Later.
We need to know how many Republicans in Congress played football before age 12.

Almost?
The hopeful thing is that it only takes three Republicans to choose people who live here over the ideology of nonresident billionaires and infotainment personalities, who are completely divorced from the consequences.
The disgusting thing is that there are only three Republicans who maybe look like they might.
Such bullshit. And what’s even worse is this could have been avoided yet some people insist both Parties are the same and elections don’t matter.
Republicans are being total hypocrites in this process. A shame we don’t have an entire network willing to call them out or rally tea baggers with media following them around to hang on their every word. No, instead we’re gonna have a repeal that rids millions of healthcare choices rammed down our fucking throats because IN ALL OF 7+ YEARS the GOP is too lazy or have no ideas other than tearing stuff down and leaving a mess that Democrats will have to clean up.
Gah. Between that fucking embarrassing buffoon making a complete ass out of himself and US everyday, the GOP doing nothing but helping themselves and the people that don’t vote or buy their lies I am seriously at the point of being done caring.
We are so screwed.
And that’s the mindset they have they know the dems will clean up mess so to them it doesn’t matter
GOP’s regular irregularity
The only guess that I can come up with, as a rational (i.e., plausible) explanation of their insistence on this rush into the abyss, is that they need the paper cut in government expenditure to grease the skids for the Kochs’ tax cut.
Lies lies lies all lies. They have no shame.
Jimmy Kimmel eviscerated Cassidy last night. I especially liked his remarks about his critics.
Ding Ding Ding! We have a winner, folks! Thanks for playing!
Seriously, can anyone offer a better explanation for this fiasco?
This is being driven almost entirely by the Koch Bros shutting off the cash spigot to the GOP:
"One Texas-based donor warned Republican lawmakers that his “Dallas piggy bank” was now closed, until he saw legislative progress. “Get Obamacare repealed and replaced, get tax reform passed,” said Doug Deason. “Get it done and we’ll open it back up.”
Deason has already informed a handful of congressional Republicans that the “Dallas piggy bank” is closed until he sees more action. He said he was recently approached by congressmen Mark Meadows of North Carolina and Jim Jordan of Ohio about hosting a fundraiser.
“I said, ‘No I’m not going to because we’re closing the checkbook until you get some things done,’” Deason said, noting he’s encouraged nearly two dozen major Texas donors to follow his lead.
While some donors threatened to withhold campaign cash, Koch’s team outlined a broader strategy to help shape the debate. Already, Americans For Prosperity claims a paid staff of more than 400 full-time activists in 36 states. The group is actively lobbying Senate Republicans to change their current healthcare proposal, which it views as insufficiently conservative."
For those wondering why Republicans would be hell-bent on reinstituting pre-existing conditions, lifetime caps, and allowing insurance companies to hike premiums as soon as somebody starts needing coverage, those policy extremes are coming directly from the Koch brothers, whose lunatic views on regulation of businesses and corporations would take us back to the mid-1800s.
In other words, the Republican Party is like Kansas: it’s a wholly-owned subsidiary of David and Charles Koch, and it does their bidding.
Republicans have the proof they need that the electorate is so stupid they won’t make Republicans suffer when they lose all of their health care insurance. After all, we, the electorate did elect Donnie the Idiot as president. Demonstrating total stupidity does have consequences, you know
Yeah, and that… you just gave me one of those profound thoughts… maybe someone profounder already found this, but is this actually the Koch responding to the single payer ploy the Dems let Bernie propose?
Just a thought… it seems to me they would surely fear a single-payer program much more than the market-based Obamacare that was a false compromise all along. Meaning no offense to its namesake or to Gov. Sebelius, they and the Dems did what was available, regardless of leftie copmplaints, it was a “something” where worse than nothing previously existed, but it was never safe from majority mischief and it was NEVER affordable.
Single payer is lurking now as a seed of actual promulgation, it is no longer just dialog and discussion and disputation between people of opinion, it is real and on its way to codification, which is historic, if it can blossom as actual legislative discussion, and we need to water that lotus as it unfolds.
FUBAR: Ah yes, leave it to GI’s to come up with a veritable lexicon of acronyms that begin with the F-word. I always liked FIGMO – fuck it, got my orders.
And let us not forget a “crock” that omits what was in the crock.
They don’t have the votes. There are fewer Senators openly committed to this bill than there were the last bill.

They are on full hypocrisy overdrive!
Not to mention the Koch’s are threatening to withhold their “contributions” if they don’t get the initiatives they want on repeal.
ETA: @bluestatedon just saw yours above now. Thanks for the link to the Guardian piece.
“We’ve been highly disappointed in how CBO has conducted itself throughout this health care process.
Today’s edition of “Death of Irony”.
The sheer viciousness of this bill and the procedures being used to try and pass it are beyond understanding.
Read Krugman’s tweet string on this mess. He is absolutely correct in labeling the GOP as a cancer on the body
politic and condemning anyone who stands with it today for its single-minded focus on straight greed and its willingness to lie flat out in support of its goals.
One can only hope that someone with a national platform like Jimmy Kimmel no less, just might have educated enough Americans to get on the phone and let their representatives know that they know they are being lied to.
