The only reason that Democrats should hold out a rope to any of these folks is if there is an anchor attached to the other end.
It’s right next to the great American novel he has been working on. The tentative title is, “Gone With The Wind Part Two: Scarlet gets her Pumpernickel”.
The person–Democrat or Republican–who can reach across party lines effectively will take the nation by storm.

Republicans have been failing at governance ever since Newt Gingrich decided that ideology was more important that workable solutions. Governance requires making hard choices, and the GOP base is not about to allow them to make hard choices.

If it isn’t about cutting taxes, hating on Obama and liberals, more war and bombs or guns and god, the Repubs won’t ever agree.
They don’t do improvement, they don’t do beneficial for all and they don’t do cost effective and affordable.
This bill is so far out of their wheelhouse, its surprising that they’ve made it this far.
They may manage to wreck everything regarding healthcare and lavish more wealth on the least deserving but there is absolutely zero improvement forthcoming.
If they destroy Obamacare, Obama still wins because they will be committing political suicide and the people will demand better healthcare immediately.
Killing O-care will not end the Repubs headaches.

I recognize this is not an original observation, but Christ Almighty that man looks like a tortoise. And an only slightly anthropomorphized one, at that.
The really crazy part of all this is Obamacare was designed on Romneycare in Mass. which was based on ideas out of the Heritage Foundation. So, the ideas contained in Obamacare are REPUBLICAN to their core. Let me say that again. Obamacare is chock full of republican ideas.
And today there’s visceral hatred of Obamacare among the GOP because Obama used their ideas. The other aspect is just flat out racist . How dare a black man use republican ideas for anything. Specifically I’m thinking of McConnell and his rebuttal of Obama nominating Merrick Garland to the SCOTUS. Take the time sometime and listen to his voice inflection. Not the words but how they are said. McConnell’s hatred of Obama is palpable.
The GOP has themselves boxed into a mess of their own making. Screwed if the bill passes, screwed of they don’t pass it. What a mess but McConnell will try to put lipstick on this pig and declare victory.
