Discussion: Senate GOP Can't Even Agree On Asking Dems For Obamacare Repeal Help

A whisper campaign could be very effective now. That there is an alternative. That there has been compromise.

I don’t want the party to show up at the end of this year or the beginning of next and have people ask where the hell they’ve been for the last 18 months.

I don’t disagree, but if no one knows we’re here (or cares, because they don’t understand the relevance), then all of the ground game could be for naught.

All I know is what I read and see. As I mentioned above I watched Perez on MSNBC the other day and when asked he was unable to announce a single reason to vote FOR Democrats that wasn’t a greeting card slogan. He would neither endorse Warren’s call for single payer (Medicare for all) nor reject it apparently because he was afraid to piss off either the progressives or the hedge fund managers. It was the same old bullshit we have been hearing for years. Ted Kennedy was a Democratic lion. He wasn’t always right but you knew where he stood. Right now our leadership is filled with fraidy cats.

I am pretty sure that no Democratic help is forthcoming so long as Republicans are committed, as they seem to be, to the untimely and unhappy deaths of thousands of Americans and the destruction of healthcare as we know it. This is the Republicans’ show, they are going to have to succeed or (hopefully) fail all on their own.

Somebody had to do it, might as well be me:

There’s a really great way that everybody can get rid of Eeeeevil Obamacare- single payer ( Medicare for all) I’m sure Dems would work with Reps in a Medicare- for- everyone endeavor.

Well for one thing, there is this Russia story drowning out everything else on the news that doesn’t bleed. And for another, for the moment, being a bit stealth is probably a good thing. I know it’s hard but be patient. And you can believe me on this: there are groups out there searching for and vetting good people to run.

Almost anywhere but Sunday morning talks show, a relic of a time in media when you couldn’t find political news anywhere else. Networks don’t care to bring us news as much as they care at grabbing attention, specifically, look at how much they loved trumPP because he meant bigger ad revenue.

Perez had a specific amount of time to make some very important points, was probably constrained by being squeezed between ads for Viagra and meds for psoriasis. TV news does us all a disservice, both the messenger and those looking for a message… If you think Democrats are “fraidy cats”, find yourself a party of lions roaring mostly to intimidate their opponents, and that would be the feckless republicans.

For any modern Republican, being bi-partisan in the conduct of their job in helping to improve the lives of the American people is to concede defeat. Mitch would rather commit treason than be defeated by a Democrat. Or help the American people.

It’s about McConnell collecting power and money. Always has been, always will be.

It isn’t that he faced a lack of time, he was specifically asked the to identify a reason to vote For Democrats and given time to answer. He came up with “Democrats are for working people.” He was asked about Warren’s call for single payer and dodged away. No, he didn’t want to do anything to offend anybody which inspires no one.

Totally agree with all your points. Republicans spent years playing dirty tricks and whining about how they would fix everything if only they were in charge. So now they’re in charge and it’s a massive clusterfuck. Democrats aren’t bailing you assholes out this time. You’re on your own. If you want to continue to screw the American people, you’re not getting any help from Democrats.

I am sure that Graham knows nothing about women’s health issues, especially birth control and women’s cancers.

Absolutely agree.

Yes, because Democrats believe in saving money.

Edit:

On second thought: Dems should use the GOP’s civil war and the unpopularity of their bill to extract some serious concessions. When we take back Congress, we can do more.

the proposed cuts to Medicaid and scrap the tax breaks for the wealthy. The dems need to weaponize these two issues if their going to take either or both houses in 18’. The repeal is So unpopular…

No, Mitch we will not let you lead us off a cliff. You confuse us with your less than educated zombie followers.
