Discussion: Senate Confirms Barr As Attorney General

OT, but Theresa May just got killed in the latest Parliament vote on Brexit. The UK, having already whacked its economy, appears to be headed off the cliff with nobody in the driver’s seat.

I’ve been watching season 3 of Man in the High Castle. I look at folks like Barr, Whitaker, Kirsjten Nielsen et. al. and am now able to easily picture them decked out in Nazi regalia. Hair Gropenfuhrer!

Barr can’t stop the Mueller train. He might end up enabling it.

If there is one country that cannot laugh at the US is the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. The BrexitTards there are even dumber that the TrumpTards that we have over here. It’s been over two years that they voted to leave the EU and still have not agreed on a plan of how to do it, with Tory politicians after so many setbacks remain deluded that somehow the EU needs them more than they need the EU and that they can have a deal on their terms, if they only had a Donald Trump to push it through.

Score another one for Vladimir Putin and the Mercers.

Let’s not forget that Russian also meddled in the Brexit vote. I still believe we can clean up the results of this Trump situation eventually, but Vlad may well have screwed the UK permanently (and the rest of western Europe too).

Edit: like mondfledermaus said while I was still typing!

Any word on how Susan Collins voted? I know she always manages to overcome whatever was “very concerning” to her about various nominees. Did she do it again this time?

He is from Daddy Bush’s era, my only hope is that Barr thinks Trump damages the long term health of the Republican party and sees cleansing of Trumpism an appropriate step. Certainly Republicans of his era must hate the Russian ties to Trump

“Barr wrote that Trump could not have obstructed justice by firing former FBI Director James Comey since it was an action the president was constitutionally entitled to take.”

By Barr’s logic, Trump could confess – on live television – that he took $100 million from Putin to fire Comey, and face ZERO criminal consequences.

In fact, NOTHING allowed to Trump by the Constitution can be scrutinized, for any reason, no matter HOW corrupt its intent, execution, or effect.

Simply because it would be “an action the president was constitutionally entitled to take”.

Madness…

Anarchy in the U.K.!

The most oddly comforting thing about Barr so far is him admitting publicly during his confirmation hearings that he knew, liked, and respected Mueller.

It he was truly on board with train Trump this was the last thing he would have done.

Didn’t he also admit they have family dinners together?

I expect Barr will end up enabling and accelerating Trump’s downfall. That’s probably why the GOP establishment maneuvered him into the AG’s office. When Trump draws his last breaths as President he’ll be gasping “et tu Bill Barr.”

Republican Sen. Rand Paul of South Carolina voted against him

Does this mean that Sen. Rand Paul of Kentucky voted for him?

Trump: This right here, is my WALL.Pelosi didnt want Barr and I did. I won my wall.

Did you really have to ask? Susan Collins (R - Concernedville) voted to confirm Barr. Apparently the only R who voted against Barr was Aquabuddha’s Senator Rand Paul.
