See, this is what a “great day for democracy” looks like.

So that pretty much ends that particular avenue for them for awhile.

Alito of all people denied the request without referring it to the full court – meaning even he didn’t see the merit of the GOP case.

Prediction: New map + political environment + PA-specific situations = D +5 in 2018 in PA

+2-3 around Philadelphia area, +1 Pittsburgh area, +1-2 elsewhere (e.g., Lehigh Valley or Harrisburgh)

In a D tsunami, D+7 or better. Ds sweep the Philly suburbs (+4), and pick up all potential swing seats elsewhere (+3).

Nice to have some good news for a change, even if it’s mixed in with the usual daily truckload of depressing news.

Trump & GOP leadership (?): “Damn this Constitution! Its always getting in the our way. How are we ever going to create Plutocratic Dictatorship if SCOTUS keeps getting in our way?”

I’m in the 1st district, formally the 8th, and we have a great candidate that we’re supporting in the primary. Scott Wallace is very progressive and has a real opportunity to beat down Brian Fitzpatrick who carpetbagged his way into our district and ran on his last name because the prior 'pub here was Mike Fitzpatrick. Brian used the same signs, same wording and I swear that most of the people who voted for him had no idea that it wasn’t the same guy.

With redistricting, we also went from R+2 to R+1 so I will be working my hind quarters off to get Wallace, and every other Dem, elected this fall.

“Pennsylvania’s 2011 map is generally considered among the most gerrymandered in the nation, and Democrats hope new district lines will boost their chances of reclaiming majority control of the U.S. House make the next round of elections actually fair.”

C’mon, AP. Try to find the real meaning, will ya?

C’mon, TPM. This crap does your actual reporting a real disservice.

Hmmm…you sure? The text of the order states, “The application for stay presented to Justice Alito and by
him referred to the Court is denied.” Sounds like he referred it to the full Court, which slapped it down.

In other words, Alito is still a pig.

I wish I could feel that SCOTUS was all-in on the resistance, but this is certainly good news and a hopeful sign.

My Rep. Ryan Costello will most likely lose his job or he may just end up “retiring” sooner than later.

Friggin’ Republicans need to find out …ahead of time …

What cartoon characters are the Supreme’s favorites
before they go and just ad lib …

I’d bet a boris and natasha map would of been worth their time —

An even better day for democracy will be Election Day 2018 if Dems run candidates in EVERY SINGLE election from House and Senate down to dog catcher and if the predicted blue wave of voters actually shows up at the polls. It’s about time to end the years of allowing Republicans to dictate the terms of our democracy.

This decision is why the presidency and Senate are so important…the Republicans are doing everything they can to remove fair minded judges of whatever political persuasion and replace them with right wing hacks who don’t care about the Constitution, only increasing right wing power. Anyone who has a shred of liberalism in them, anyone who cares about the freedoms this nation gives them, should be pushing hard so the Democrats to take back the Senate in 2018 and stop the assault on the judiciary. It should have been obvious in 2016 that the Republicans would take over the judiciary if they got the chance, so the mistake of not voting because the candidate wasn’t “perfect” can never be repeated.
