Discussion: Scott Walker: Republicans Should End The Filibuster For Trump Presidency

I hope Democrats use the filibuster to defeat this and keep them deadlocked for the next four years, the pricks.

I’m now revising my March prediction from earlier today to February.

Also, Ewok fetuses…

You think the white one feels persecuted solely because he’s become outnumbered or is there a history there?

I will never accept Drumph and will vote against any democrat that votes for GOP legislation. As a Vietnam veteran I will never come together for this cowardly draft dodger. I will pattern myself after Mitch McConnell’s attitude toward President Obama.

Koch’s water boy is a good little fascist soldier.

“Walker said he was excited for Trump’s presidency but worried about Democratic obstructionism.”

Buried that needle fucking fast, they did. Is there something beyond “chutzpah”? Because I think they just left chutzpah in the fucking dust.

This is the shit that infuriates me enough to hope it comes to riots in the streets.

inside-the-ballpark Washington procedural reason

So the filibuster, made famous decades ago in Mr. Smith Goes to Washington, and used by both parties and at all levels of government - is “inside-the-ballpark” procedure now? Whatthefuckever, you douchebag

I have no doubt they will end the filibuster and install a new SC justice by March at the latest. The one silver lining to them ending the filibuster is that there will be no way they can blame the Dems for getting in their way or stopping their policies. They will own everything they do, and Democrats should make that absolutely clear.

Come to think of it, the Koch boys are strangely quiet. They must be trying to shore up their losses on Wall Street.

Mitch McConnell slightly hinted today that they wouldn’t–for whatever that’s worth.

What losses?

Please. If the Republicans didn’t make it clear before, their non-consideration of Justice Garland demonstrates there are no rules any more. Just whatever works on a particular day to advance their agenda.

It’s worth the shite it rode out of his mouth. I’m admittedly being a bit hyperbolic to suggest February. They’ll wait for a SCOTUS nominee that forces a filibuster, i.e., the first one. Then, they will blame the Dems and claim “it’s only fair because the Dems went nuclear first.” McConnell will probably be feeling empowered and brazen enough to add some quip about “I todl them it would come back to haunt them,” thereby expressing their feelings that the next 4 years will be packed with revenge for the past 8. Then, the MSM will totally fail with the story, it will all come out looking like both sides are equally wrong and we’ll be one step closer to outright authoritarian neofascism.

What do you mean, 7-10 days? The markets posted healthy gains today. And there’s talk of more inflation. That’s the irony in all of this. As a retiree with a Federal pension that’s indexed to inflation, a sizable chunk of I Bonds, and a collection of market index ETF’s, a Trump Presidency might be very much to my financial benefit. And still I hate it.

I know, I know, the markets fluctuate – but I think there is a good likelihood this jolt will be a little too hard for any kind of rebound (long-lasting, anyway) to happen. When it starts to “correct” itself, it will be very slow and his insistence on renegotiating every trade deal will only make that more vulnerable.

I know. I’m trying to see the hint of a glimmer of a flash of something that will probably just be a train coming down the dark tunnel at us.

O, lord. I didn’t check the market today. Last night, world markets were tanking. My bad. Talk about assuming. :unamused:

That’s the piece that’s going to be fun to watch. Trump made a boatload of anti-free-trade noises on the campaign trail. But his personal fortunes benefit from cheap overseas labor, he’s got a Congress that’s full of free-trade advocates, and the business community certainly doesn’t want to see tariff barriers go up. Who wins that contest?

I hadn’t looked since last night’s futures. Of course everything is just rainbows and sunshine now.

Trump is no conservative and he will need Democratic votes to pass anything. There is a deal out there. He has no fixed philosophy or political ideology. Don’t be surprised if he makes nice with the Democrats.
