As you probably know as of the latest vote count update last night Krysten Sinema has taken a 9600 vote lead in Az. Still around half a million votes to count, largely from Mariposa and Pima where she has consistently held the advantage.

For those not remembering the excuses used by the Republicants in the 2000 Presidential recount, also in Florida, they complained, and the Sup Court stood on, the ‘mistake’ Gore’s campaign made of asking for ‘special treatment’ in only a few counties, ie., only asking for certain counties to be recounted, and not the whole state. They used this to say this meant voters were not being treated equally, and so this recount, er, unequal treatment had to be stopped.
It strikes me that Rick “I was stealing Grandma’s Medicare then, and don’t remember this” Scott is falling into the same trap.
But will the current, heavily skewed Sup Court use that ever-so-relevant ruling of Dec 12, 2000? Or will it do what that Court said of that ruling, that it should be ignored in all future (read: a Democrat might win if this is applied) cases?
Gonna get weird, fast.

When the Rs launched the Brooks Brothers Riot to stop the count in 2000, didn’t some of the rioters later become a big deal in R politics? Names? Was Kavanaugh in there?

This isn’t a presidential election, so it’s likely Scott’s frivolous attempt to stop counting votes will lose. Also, the Governor’s girlfriend isn’t the Florida Secretary of State. Jus’ sayin’.

This is very encouraging for the Dem Senate Caucus and Bill Nelson - no one says things like Scott is saying and SUES like he suing unless they’re convinced it’s highly likely that they’ve lost.
If Sinema can hold on to her lead in AZ thru the Maricopa morass that ballot counters have before them , that would mean the Dems would keep their losses down to Net 2 in this incredibly difficult Senate midterms map: with the wins in Nevada and Arizona offset by the losses in the near irredeemably stupid whiteboy states of Indiana, Missouri and North Dakota. That would set up a big turn around in D Senate seats in 2020, by which time hopefully the Ds will have found someone other than the deeply compromised, shalllow, silly, weak Chuck Schumer to lead the coming Senate majority… Patty Murray would be my choice: knows who she is knows what a liberal is, isn’t compromised to any foreign nation, smart, tough and great fighter.
